Are Silicone Baking products safe?
I'm seeing more items for Silicone baking, from cookie sheets to muffin pans to baking cups to cake pans to bread loaf pans to dessert bar pans. The concept has great appeal (no oil cooking, easy clean up), but I wondered if the material affects the taste or if the products that make up the silicone could leach into the baked goods, either when the silicone is new or as it ages. And if silicone does leach when heated, would that even be a safety concern?
So far, I haven't found much information on this topic, so hoping someone with experience of these products can comment.
Thank you,
