  • What's your favorite way to cook .... Vegetables?

    I have to say my favorite way to cook just about all veggies is plain and simple. I clean and rinse my veggies then put them in a microwave safe container and cover it with one of those plate "domes". And microwave a couple minutes at a time till the veggies turn bright in color and are fork tender. No added anything. The veggies have enough moisture to get the job done. Vitamins and Minerals aren't lost in water that is thrown out and the veggies aren't water logged. I still like to sauté and roast veggies but steamed with just some butter added is my favorite way.

    Hmmmm........

    I guess I have different favorites depending on the veg. But for the most part, I either roast them or saute them. I love the added dimension of flavor from the caramelization on the edges when you roast or saute.

        I do also!

        One of my Emerilware stainless steel pots in the set has a steamer insert that fits into it very nicely.

        Great for steaming veggies, keeping them away from contact with the boiling water, which helps them retain their precious vitamins and minerals!

        This isn't one of those cheap flimsy spread-out units. it is the actually Emerilware accessory that slips just into the upper half of the 3-qt casserole, and is a pure genuine product.

            My favorite way to eat spinach is in spinach pies but they are a bit of work.

                  I was never a fan of vegetables, but as an adult I am warming up to them (I was allergic to just about everything until I was 4 years old, pretty much survived on soy formula) Roasting has turned into my preparation of choice for vegetables. I love roasted broccoli, I just toss broccoli in olive oil, kosher salt and fresh ground pepper and roast in a 425 oven until browned and crisp around the edges. I've done this with brussels sprouts and sweet potato cubes as well.

                  I like to lightly steam green beans and toss them in some butter that has been browned with sliced almonds, finished with some lemon juice, salt and pepper.

                      Favorite way for Veggies

                      There are two methods that I tend to use.
                      I think the best is steaming with some simple seasonings. The results are low calorie yet tasty.
                      The other favorite is a version of stir-fry where I use a fry pan (aka: saute' pan) with some butter to start, then pour 1/2 cup of chicken broth with seasonings and cover and pan steam.

                        I also like the microwave steaming method, but it really does depend on the veggie I suppose I have a favourite method for cooking each vegetable as I tend to cook each vegetable in a certain way.
