How long are homebaked cookies supposed to last?
I'm not sure if this qualified as being "homebaked" or not, but I baked a couple dozen of those Pillsbury chocolate chip cookies with my girlfriend, and while we ate about half of them right out of the oven (MMMMMM!), there were still leftovers.
She told me I should have a rack to cool them off (I forgot all about those things; I'm not a baker. And I remember my mom always using them.) so that the bottom doesn't stick and/or get burned.
She placed syran wrap over them after we put them on a plate, and I believe it was either the next day or day after, that I ate the rest. They were of course not nearly as soft and sexy as when eaten 5 minutes out of the oven, but they were still pretty decently chewey as good.
It then made me think how long they'd last this way, before they got 'hard' and crunchy - as I deteste that texture in cookies.
Anyhow, how long are homebaked cookies supposed to last to a decent consitency?
Thanks!

Putting them in a cookie tin will help maintain their freshness. Baked cookies can also be frozen and then warmed in the oven.
Another option is to freeze cookies then they are in their dough form if you have too much dough, and bake them at a later date.
Hope this helps

Last time I made cookies I forgot to wrap them.. ugh! Because before that time, I did wrap them and they did indeed stay softer for a much longer period of time...
Old habits are hard to break...

Keep trying to remember and you will break them.
Good luck

I usually put all my overleft cookies in a tight fitting jar container and store it in the fridge. The crispiness of the cookies can last as long as 3 - 6 months!

I have noticed that too although I don't even have to store them in the fridge. They seem to stay crunchy for ages. Mind you the cookies in this house would never last as long as 3 months.

Air is what makes them change to hard and crunchy. So when putting them into a container of some sort make sure it is air tight. Even a zip lock bag will do whe it comes to keeping them more fresh for longer!

Yes, but my problem is that if I freeze the cookie dough raw, we usually end up eating it raw, right out of the freezer! Raw cookie dough is great any way at all!!

Although I have tried raw cookie dough, I have never eaten it frozen! (I guess that might be because I never freeze it! The few times a year that I actually make cookie dough, I generally bake them right away!) But I do think freezing is a good idea. Just bake a few and throw the rest of the dough in the freezer...

Cookie dough ice cream is oh so yummy. If you have not tried it, give it a try, you will love it!

I think it totally depends on the type of cookie, how they are stored, and how long they bake in the oven.
