Need to know when the oil is hot enough for frying? Take a toothpick and put it into the oil, when you see bubbles coming out of the toothpick the oil is ready for frying. Also works with a Bamboo scewer.

Ice cubes are great for removing excess grease from casseroles and stews. Just drop one or two and the fat will stick to the cube.

cut a piece of the rubbery drawer and shelf liner to fit under your cutting board. if keeps it in place without any chance of slipping on you. No chasing your cutting boards around the kitchen. (if you get raw meat on it. Just throw it away and cut a new piece. I Love these!
In Edit: if you don't have this liner, use a damp papertowel.

you can scrub out your coffee and tea pots with a mixture of baking soda, and ice cubes. the baking soda becomes the safe scrubbing agent, and the ice. the needed weight and as it melts, it will create a past, and then a runny liquid to help clean and scrub the inside of the pots.

If you like to eat chicken, try eating just the drumsticks or the breast. With or without the skin, those two parts are the most fat-free ones on the bird.

Cook corn-on-the cob inside its own leafy cover in the microwave. Wrap them in paper towel and cook on full power 2 minutes for one, 4 to 5 minutes for two. Then wrap them in in foil and leave for 5 minutes before stripping off the leaves and serving.

I learned this one ages ago and do this at least once every couple of months.
Refrigerate a gallon of water in a jug or container. Drop a large amount of ice cubes into your garbage disposer and while it's running wash the ice cubes down with the cold water in the jug. This will not only eliminte the smell of food stuck to the blades and surrounding area in the disposer, but the ice cubes will act as an abrasive to clean out the pipe leading out of the disposer.
