How do you guys like Giada?
Her recipes are Italian with kinda of an American touch to them.
My husband and I love her stuff.
I have her cookbook Everyday Pasta and recently ordered Family Dinners.

I love to watch "Everyday Italian". Giada is a good teacher. She shows and explains what she is doing in her kitchen. I have learned a great deal about cooking from watching her cooking show. I've only been cooking and baking for the past two and a half years so I'm still a novice cook.

I think she's an excellent cook!
She cooks everything using that great authentic Italian flair!!

Giada is pretty good, my niece loves her and her recipes. I like many but not all of any. LOL

I like her and watch her "Everyday Italian" often. I've made several of her recipes with only one dud. It was one she did on the Today show a couple of weeks ago. It was a cannellini bean dip that was just so-so at best. Otherwise her pasta and other Italian dishes are really wonderful.

There used to be a sign in our local BBQ that read "Never Trust a Skinny Cook". That about sums up how I feel about Giada, but she does have nice teeth. You can see all 75 of them when she gets to smiling.

This is another post to ignore. I guess the poster isn't smart enough to know she/he isn't welcome here.

Giada really helped me figure out what flavors go well together when I was first cooking. I never did any of her recipes exactly(I would only do that with baking) but I did learn a lot from her tips and about ingredients I had never tried up until then. I also learned to put garlic in everything. For some inexplicable reason I've recently lost interest in her shows in favor of Gordon Ramsey's "The F Word".
That said, even without any masculine energy she knows exactly how to appeal to the male audiences.

Why don't you like her?
You make it appear as though she's some kind of a monster.

This is another post to ignore. I guess the poster isn't smart enough to know she/he isn't welcome here. DQ, I think you need to lighten up a bit, and realize that humor is part of life. You're beginning to sound like the Happy Valley people over on that website that bans people for trying to have a little bit of fun. If you don't care for humor, then read cook books and don't participate in forums where humor resides.
As for Giada, I find her recipes to be to my liking, and SHE likes to have fun with her cooking. She's also sweet eye candy for an old timer like me. A double gift, if you will.

And speaking of such, I visited the "Happy Valley" yesterday to see what was going on there. Don't get me wrong, I did not go there to sign back up and didn't.
Two or three members had a dispute with each other in the Alton Brown & Sandra Lee threads andtheyt got closed by yours truly, Kitchenscum.
The puke GB closed a thread there as well, but I forgot which one it was.
They don't warn you on the forum if you've done something that they think is wrong. But instead, to keep it off the forum so that it makes THEM look good in hopes of trying to attract new members and they don't see it, and then they send you a nasty pm, threatening to ban you if the supposedly wrong thing that you've done occurs again!!
That is what Mr. Sadam Hussein himself, GB did to me. They are justa trying their best to cleverly hide all of the pitfalls there just to get new members to join, and then as soon as a mistake is made, they treat you like a prisoner, and you become a slave to their boot camp ways!!

That pretty much sums up the place. You added an eloquence that would be lacking if I described a visit there. LOL.
That's ok, they keep driving people away and sites like NCT and this site continue to gain from their foolishness. Andy sure found himself some head trips when he took on some of his mods and admins. For all we know, they might be relatives, which is why he won't replace or reprimand them.

Yeah, and another thing;
You hit the nail right on the head when you started calling that forum the "Happy Valley"!! Very fitting name for them.
Because they want to call themselves being so perfect over there - yet the only thing they all are perfect at being, are just a bunch of wolves in sheeps' clothing.
Because as soon as the opportunity presents itself, like a pack of hungry blood-thirsty wolves, they'll swoop down on people just for one little thing!
I've never in my entire life seen such a forum where more than half the members there are staff members who have a complete zero tolerence for a regular member telling them that they are wrong for something.
Ever stop to notice that for all those poor excuses for mods and admins over there, theirs heads have gotten ten times bigger, as they are definitely on a power trip? It would definitely give me pure satisfaction to see that forum fold and lose all their members.
Good luck to them and the Red Sox.

I thought the 75 teeth comment was funny, actually.
I've never had much use for Giada - she just comes off as totally phony, and her recipes are no more Italian then her Dad's movies were. She just uses Italian ingredients to make basic home-cook recipes. I almost dropped dead when she did the Focaccia bread pudding.
Nope. Only chefs on FN I actually enjoy are Alton Brown, Robert Irvine (Dinner Impossible) and anyone but Flay on Iron Chef - particularly Mario Batali. I'll even watch his show once in a while, although it's a lot more interesting watching his leisurely, relaxed demeanor in the context of a kitchen where bodies and food are flying around him at a ludicrous pace. It's like he's on slow-mo.... :D

Seems like he used to get an evening spot for his re-runs and the 11:00 spot for new episodes, but I haven't seen GE on the 8:00 slot in quite a while....

They're really pushing Chopped. While I do like Ted Allen, that show is doomed to fail. It's like a half-hour ICA, with second-rate cooks and ludicrous ingredient combinations.

Been there, done that... now I take my CALM pills before I hang out there.
AS for Giada... easy on the eyes, knows her Italian cooking, like some of her food.. BUT...
I wish she would stop pronouncing Italian named foods IN Italian. THere are correct English pronunciations for these words, and she should use them. Yeah I know, she's Italian, it's Italian cooking, it just bothers me when anyone does this.

FWIW, I think Good Eats is one of the best shows on television, not just FN.
AB is intelligent and funny. I do think the new shows lack a bit of the luster from the first 10 years though. The skinny Alton isnt as fun.
I agree about Ted Allen, he is pretty likeable.
I also like B Flay. Sure he's a little arrogant, but he "brings it" everytime.

KitchenScum and Got Bullcrap are no prize packages, and I didn't like the way they treated me.

It really bothers me that they close threads and remove posts with no explanation. I keep telling them that if they don't EDUCATE the posters, we can't learn what is not allowed.
And that their style of moderation scares people and we post less.
Recently two threads "went south" and got closed.... after GB and Alix did some preaching.
The number of posts per day dropped precipitously and stayed down......
I fully expect to arrive there and find the doors locked to me sometime before too long.

Exactly!
That's the Happy Valley for ya.
GotBullcrap and Alice have struck again, hey?!! The thread about Sandra Lee's Tablescapes got closed by Alice because of a debate (disagreement between two members) that had occured there.
That's how I felt when I was there. They were acting very friendly when I first joined, but in time, they were just as hostile as ever!!
Way too many restrictions there, and you can't even say negative stuff about people who you see & know on the street in your neighborhood, because they'll get offended and start claiming that they've got relatives & friends in the same boat!
You have no freedom of speech there, no arguments, rebuttals or anything!
I feel for you, I really do! Get out of there and stay here and also join NCT. You'll get treated much better here and at NCT.
Why be at a forum where you're so intimidated and so scared that, like you said, the doors might be closed on you someday? That forum is excessively moderated and you can't do a thing there without being jumped on. The mods there will get you for every little thing.
Maybe they DON'T want to educate you or the others, because it seems as though they LIKE to keep members feeling as though they are walking on egg shells or pins & needles and so deathly afraid of being banned.
They like to be sadistic and sick dpraved morons! I finally had enough and stood up to them and because I did, they banned me. I was expecting it anyway, because I came to the realization that I finally had enough of their bullying and endless alienating.
What did it was when I posted a thread about Olive Garden possibly re-using salad that was already served to previous customers. And KitchenScum friggen deleted it, saying that it was a blanket statement, and GotBullcrap had backed her up. That is when it became the Straw That Broke the Camel's Back. I went nuts! I told them exactly what I thought of them. They didn't like that and KitchenScum had banned me for it!!
I sent them back several e-mails, telling them that they are nothing but a bunch of friggen retarded morons and that they need to grow up. The puke GB sent ME one back, saying that they supposedly filed a criminal report with the Boston Police. I didn't leave there without making some noise first though!
So yeah, you might get the door closed on you as well. Because they absolutely positively don't like being told when they are wrong! But I hope that it all works out for you. If not, then, consider yourself freed from the curse of the Happy Valley. :(

I remember that thread, yes I do!
I've gotten hand slapped recently for daring to question (and disdain) a trendy new abbreviation (restobar). How DARE I say something negative in a thread where the person was asking for advice on opening one?
Happy stuff only.
That's OK, I am just waiting for the day. THen I will drive to a friend's in another town and sign up again with a different user name, just to prove I can, har har har.
What is NCT?

NetCookingTalk. http://www.netcookingtalk.com/forums/index.php . My name there is Sherman.
You can Google it and it should come up. Or just click on the link above.
FoodNetworkFans.com is also another Happy Valley to stay away from.
No, I wasn't banned from there, but I left from there because in addition to an Internet Schoolyard Bully there giving me crap all the time, one of the moronic super mods there had friggen closed a thread that I started there as well, about a little boy who likes to get up out of his seat and dance in the aisles at the Boston Celtics home games!
I added more to the post and it got abruptly closed because they don't want me to talk about kids there, especially boys - like I'm some kind of pervert or something!! They friggen stopped me from editiing all my posts. That made me feel so blasted unwelcomed, hurt and disgusted!! I'd NEVER do anything to hurt a child, not physically or mentally!! I LOVE them. They are our future. Kids certainly make me feel young again!
At first, they stopped me from posting my posts pending to approval of a moderator!
I questioned them about it, and they were playing friggen games, acting like they don't see it or don't know who it was that had stopped me from editing my own posts! I left there earlier this year in the spring and haven't been back there at all. I forgot my password, and I don't care. Won't even try to replace it, simply because I've had it with them!! And I don't plan to go back either!
When forums start treating me as though I'm not welcome there any more, it's time to leave there and stay away. Stick a fork in me and turn me over because I'm so done with them!!
Let them all WONDER why you don't visit and post there any more!
You can also sign up again using a Hotmail or Yahoo e-mal address, and they won't be able to trace or ID your pc. I thought about doing that, but I decided not to. Same can, different label. Same boat, different lake.
