I love peanut butter ( the crunchy version). It's a great source of raw protein and it has monounsaturated fat, which is healthy. I sometimes eat for breakfast two sandwiches just with peanut butter. Yum. You should avoid the hydrogenated brands, they are not that healthy (they are rich in trans fatty acids). Someone else who loves peanut butter?

I love peanut butter, but my favourite is the smooth kind. I haven't eaten it for years because I thought it was very bad for me. Where I live you cannot buy different brands as it is not especially popular, but I will look at it next time I go shopping to find out about the fat content.

I love the crunchy peanut butter too! I love taking a spoon and having some, but I can never eat too much because it feels so full.

By the way, thanks for that info about mono-saturated fat! I actually didn't know that.

Peanut butter and jelly is a nice breakfast treat. My favourite kind of peanut butter is the smooth one. I can't say it's my very favourite, but I enjoy it once in a while... :p Do you guys know any recipes in which it can be used? I heard a few from a TV cooking show, but most of the other ingredients were impossible to find.

I also love peanut but that is a smooth. I like spreading it on my bread as one of you guys already said they give us protein and also taste sweets. It helps the bread taste much a yummier. I think that I would never eat bread that doesn’t have any peanut butter on it.

I think that everyone would agree if I say that eating peanut butter is a common thing on most of the household these days. I don’t anyone who doesn’t like it. I love to eat the smooth one because it makes any bread tastes good.

I also love my (creamy) peanut butter and I try to buy the organic kind when I can afford it -- that's the kind you have to stir the oil back into the peanuts and then refrigerate.

It's kind of hard not to like peanut butter, unless you are allergic to peanuts, since peanut butter is nothing more than crushed peanuts. Very easy to make yourself if you wanted. Of course the commercial brands will add preservatives so it won't separate and doesn't have to be refrigerated as a result, and maybe add some sugar to sweeten it, but it is still basically just peanuts.

As I already stated before, I love it but one thing bothers me is that why are you posting it here on the health and nutrition section. Peanut may be good to eat but I won’t recommend to anyone to always eat it because you will bowel a lot.

I love peanut butter too and created this recipe the other day, lovely low fat cookies which went down very well with my family. Hope you like it too. I have not put it in my blog yet so you will be first one to try.
Ingredients below makes 40 cookies but you can half it to make less.

YOU NEED
175g peanut butter
2 tbsp olive oil
75g granulated sugar
2 eggs( beaten )
250g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
1 tsp cinnamon
25g sultanas
25g sesame seeds
25g chocolate chips
100ml milk
2 tbsp honey

METHOD
In a large mixing bowl beat together olive oil and peanut butter.Add the sugar and eggs gradually. Sieve the flour with baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Mix sultanas, chocolate chips, sesame seeds with the flour then mix all into the peanut mixture. Add honey and milk to mix it all together to form a soft dough.
Lightly grease the baking sheet and place teaspoonfuls of mixture on the tray. Sprinkle with roasted sesame seeds if you like and bake in preheated oven 180c, 350F, gas mark 4 for 15 minutes.

VARIATION: Add your own dried fruit that you prefer.

TIP OF THE DAY: I dry roast the sesame seeds in a non stick pan on the stove. So you can can watch it as it burns very quickly.

Peanut butter is wonderful! But unless you eat natural peanut butter, it's NOT good for you. The kind of processed peanut butter than most of us eat is full of trans fats-- you know, the kind that kill you. Hopefully peanut butter manufacturers will catch on that people don't want to be eating trans fats, and will use other fats to make their peanut butters. Until then, it's best to eat natural peanut butter or just go easy on the stuff.

I'm one of those pathetic people who just can't stomach natural peanut butter (at least, not the kinds I've tried). So I just eat my Peter Pan in moderation, and try not to worry too much.

Just don't make the mistake of thinking that Peter Pan, Jif, and Skippy are healthy, because they're not. They're full of sugar and trans fats!

I totally agree with you Karenlyn. We must be careful with all those additives and hydrogenated fats. I try to use whole, natural peanut butter for quickness or make my own by using a food processor. I roast the plain peanuts first. Put them in a blender or processor with some oil. ( I use my own blend which consists of almond, sesame and soya oils ) Blend until you have crunchy or smooth peanut butter.

I don't like peanut butter that much. It is tasty, but i prefer something else.. I prefer only the jelly :D
I used to buy peanut butter and it would sit in the kitchen and i would throw away most of it because i didn't eat it, so i stopped buying peanut butter..
