Here is the apple pie recipe I baked a few days ago. I will also include a recipe for the crust. It is simple, and it never fails.

Deep Dish Apple Pie

Standard Pastry

1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup margerine or shortening
1/3 cup ice cold water

Mix flour and baking powder together. Cut in margerine/shortening with 2 knives or a pastry blender. Add the water and knead into a ball. Roll out to form two 9" crusts.


Deep Dish Apple Pie

2-4 Apples medium to large size, thinly sliced
5 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp flour 1/2 tsp lemon rind/extract
1 pastry recipe (see above)

Prepare pastry. Core peel and slice apples. Place apples in the pie crust. Sprinke on top the sugar, flour, cinammon, and lemon rind. Cover with the remaining pastry (crust). Bake at 350 degrees C, for 20-30 minutes or until and pie is slightly golden and the apples are cooked.

I enjoy baking also, but I don't make many pies because I have not had much luck with the crust, so I am going to try your no fail pie crust. I hope you are right, lol. I will let you know how it turns out.
