Or cooking, or both. :p What are some that you can think of?
I think probably the most recent one was "Waitress", featuring... pies! It's a wonderful film, and Keri Russell plays a very sweet role. The script is admirable as well, kudos to the director/writer/actress Adrienne Shelly.
I've also been meaning to see "Ratatouille" but somehow I just never got around to it.

I could only think of one thing when someone is looking for movies about food and that is the cartoon movie about the mouse that helps a chef to be the best at what he’s doing. It’s Ratatoiule. I heard the term “Ratatouile” was actually a dish.

Ratatatouille was an amazing film.. even though the dishes were animated.. u wanted to jump in the screen to eat them:) There was a recent film with Catherine Zeta Jones where she plays a chef. Speaking of movie food, what are your favorite things to eat while watching a movie w/ friends?

I enjoyed "Waiting" which focuses on the immaturity found in the chain restaurant business. (loosely). If you are easily disgusted or "up tight" I wouldn't watch it.
I am also a big fan of "Under Siege", where the cook has his hands full on a Navy Cruiser.

You really should see it. The mayor of the village says enjoying food is *sinful* so he discourages the villagers from buying from the choclit shop. The plot is actually quite interesting. There is an old man wid a dog who is in love wid another elderly lady; theres a wifebeater; theres a woman who longs to tempt her bored hubby; theres an old lady whos not getting along wid her daughter in law & CHOCLIT brings them together!

Gabourey Sidibie, who played the title role in the movie, Precious, as an overweight high school teen who was sexually abused by her dad, ate a lot of fried chicken and biscuits in the film. She got sick behind it.
She also cooked for her evil psycho sadistic abusive mom (played by Mo'Nique).
They were both nominated for and won Image Awards for Best Actresses, Sidibie for Best Newcomer Actress.

Black Belt Jones.

The Godfather, the original and first, had some great Italian meal scenes in it.
I also liked the eating scene in Tom Jones. I am dating myself with this one, I know.
I also liked Chocolat and Julia/Julie mostly for Streep's joyful portrayal.
And although this is not a movie, I like Betty White on the Mary Tyler Moore TV show where she played the Hapy Homemaker. I will never forget her souffle episode. Hilarious! :D :D :D

Human Giants: Shutterbugs.
In several of the episodes, Bobb'e J. Thompson, who was a little boy at the time, rudely throws candy and fruit at two of his employees in his office.
He plays himself as a bully boss of two male employees - the rude & ruthless nasty arrogant ower of a movie production company where, at first, he congratulates them, then in a violent fit of rage, he slams his hand on his desk ("You two bozos are ruining it!!!!!!"), he then yells & screams at and belittles the two guys for not following the rules the way that HE wants them to, then he fires them.

Our Family Wedding. Saw it yesterday. Very funny movie!! Forest Whitaker and his daughter-in-law's dad just can't seem to get along with each other!
There was a cookout.
Then, the Mexican in-laws argue with the Afro-American in-laws over the wedding cake, saying that THEY want THEIR cake for the wedding.
They then get into a cake fight.

Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom.
There was a banquet where very strange and bazar food was served, such as chilled monkey brains!!
The girl playing Willie had asked for some soup, but when she got it, several eyes poked out from the soup and she flipped out and went bonkers! She later pigged out on some fruit.

I like all type of food. And experiment with food is my hobby. I like to do the translation services (http://www.translationtrudy.com/) in food.
You might have missed the point of this thread ? A film such as The Cook the Thief His Wife & Her Lover is the epithany of food films. I hope you agree ?

I really liked the movie "No Reservations", and the latest one I saw "with food" was "It's Complicated". It really made me feel like preparing a "croque monsieur"(?) Never had it before, but found a recipe for it on Julia Child's cookbook.

Problem Child 2.
The family were eating salad .
In the film, the little boy Junior (played by Michael Oliver) hated his dad's (John Ritter) new girlfriend, and the little boy did every sneaky underhanded maneuver that his mind can devise to send the woman packing, so he invits some unfriendly guests along to dinner; Large Cockroaches!!! They are all in the salad!!
The laughs are nonstop as this little boy, Junior, does everything humanly possible to stop his dad's new girlfriend from coming into their lives, up to and including framing her as having rabies so that his dad and her can't get married!!

There are 2 classic food films IMO and they are "La Grande Bouffe" and "The Cook the Thief His Wife & Her Lover". These are both centered around gourmands and food excess. These are the definitive food films. Okay then ....Big Night and Chocolat !!

"Nina's Heavenly Delights"
It is an independent film made in Scotland, it has a mostly Indian cast (it kind of messes with this American's mind to see Indian but hear a Scottish accent).
It centers around a girl who comes home after her father passes away and works to save his curry house about to be lost from gambling debts. There are lots of cooking scenes. This is a gay/lesbian themed movie, so if this offends you, crawl back into your hole:D

Yes, very nice movie, indeed. The book is great, too. It has 12 recipes at the beginning of each chapter (part of which are in the movie), one for each month of the year. One recipe explains how to make matches, though. I guess you know why, workaholic ;).
I would like to try these recipes...

Tyler Perry's Madea's Family Reunion.
A woman was engaged to with a spouse abuser. He kept on slapping her around until one day, she just got fed up with it, took a big pot of boiling-hot grits that was on the stove and threw it on him, scalding him half to death.
Then she takes small cast iron skillet and beats him with it, while throwing the engagement ring at him on the floor.
