Stewed fruit

Do you prepare stewed fruit? The fruits for your stewed food are fresh or you buy them? If you have recipes of stewed fruit please share.
My favorite stewed fruit is peach compote.

I never liked this, even if some meals are excellent with stewed fruits. I see them as a desert more and just can't be convinced to use them in this way in my meals. I can't wait to read some more recommendations, maybe I'll get convinced to use them too this way
