My favourite kitchen gadget is my Kenwood mixer with all it's attachments, I would be lost without it. Other essentials are my potato peeler, tin opener, scales and a decent set of knives. Most of my other things are just taking up space.

The vegetable peeler that I use for peeling potatoes, carrots and other vegetables, this is a kitchen gadget that it is hard to do without, believe me! It's an excellent addition to any kitchen, effective and comfortable.

The can opener.
And if you have an emergency supply of food somewhere, let's hope you remembered to include one with the supplies. The alternative is......

I'm with Samuel on this one. It's very difficult to cook without a vegetable peeler, seeing that most vegetables need peeling and a lot of recipes require vegetables. The set of knives, the mixer, the juicer and the can opener are also very important... ;)

I like to mix by handiwork the eggs with the whisk, I use usually the sandwich-maker because I like the taste of toasted bread. Another useful gadget is the microwave because I warm the food.

Me too - a veggie peeler is my choice. This simple, cheap and humble tool is something that a kitchen cannot live without. Imagine doing all the processing with your bare hands ...

You are quite right about the vegetable peeler, I am very attached to mine, I ever have a spare 'just in case'. Another important thing for me is my kitchen timer, I use it mainly when I am baking because it is so easy to get distracted when you are waiting for a cake to come out of the oven, by the time you smell burn it is too late!

One more to praise the peeler. I don't see myself cooking without it. And the mixer is also very important since it makes it easier to prepare some delicious meals. And a very nicely sharpened knives that do cut (sometimes too well)

I think that the most useful kitchen tool for me is the knife because I could do a lot of things with it. I could slice some meats; peel some potato and fruits that requires some peeling. I’m sorry if this could not be considered as a gadget but basically I’m just using the most simplest around my household.

I think i love my mixer.. it really eases things up in the kitchen.
I think always of my grandmother and the old people that didn't have one in their youth and baked and cooked without the great help of a mixer. I know it sounds cheesy, but i really think this is a great invention for us these days.

I'm with the others here. My Kitchen-aid mixer is a godsend and easily the most used gadget in my kitchen. I don't know how I ever functioned without it.

I couldn't do without my pressure cooker. It is so quick to make soups, stews even steam vegetables. Especially for cooking pulses which can take a long time to cook.

Hey all,
first-time post.... and I have to say that hands-down, my favorite kitchen utensil is any one of the knives that I finally invested more than a few dollars in. I've found new joy in being able to slice and chop with little effort. Look out Emeril, I'm right behind ya! :D

I'm going to go big and go with my Deep Fryer (http://www.katom.com)! I bought the hard core big one and I haven't regretted it. Now, to be honest, you can't deep fry everything, but you can deep fry a lot of stuff!

Hi i like my oven because of it my work becomes easy in the kitchen ....
I have to agree with you there ! Imagine baking a loaf of bread in a saucepan or worse still, under the grill ? Having an extractor fan might be your smartest move !!

You're welcome.
The Vita-Mix machine is now a vintage one. They don't make that style any more. My ex-roommate has one like that one.

I love my slow cooker, rice cooker, and vita mix. I have 4 kids on a million different sports schedules and there are some nights that we wouldn't eat if something wasn't already done in the slow cooker or rice cooker. I make a lot of smoothies for the kids and used to wear out blenders all the time. I think I could put rocks in the vita mix and it would blend them without any problem!

I love my good 'ole cut-through-anything knife. The timer made me laugh, though. I don't have one am always slightly overcooking things because I lose track of time.

Hi Ray, I saw your question and the first thing that came to my mind was a sharp kitchen knife. You can have the best cookware in the world, but it means nothing if you don't have a sharp knife to prepare your food!
