I like TV shows about cooking but I haven’t done anything that I have watch simply because the ingredients are expensive and I think that I can a lot more foods if I’m not going to follow the cooking show. For me, watching them is just a past time and shouldn’t be considered to do.

I find them amusing but I haven’t been able to do any recipe that they are doing because the ingredients are too expensive. I think that it would be best if I were to cook just the ordinary recipe that I know so that I wouldn’t ruin my food.

I watch Tv shows about cooking once in a while and I've tried some of the recipes I saw on tv several times. Most were not too shabby... :p One pudding recipe was a disaster... It is true that most of the ingredients they present are expensive and some are even difficult to find in a supermarket, but not always. Besides, cooking shows are fun to watch.

Yes, i do :)
I always watch cooking shows when i have the time. I helps me understand certain techniques and it is also a way to relax myself.
My mom used to write down every recipe she saw on tv, but never tried them.. Anyway, maybe some day she will, and if not, i will ask them from her and try them myself.

I also love them a lot. I watch them with my wife and we get inspired for some more meals this way. Even if sometimes I am not convinced to try cook a meal that's being presented there, still I like seeing the entire process and trying to imagine how "yummy" the result is.

I LOVE cooking shows. I can't get enough of them. It's a good thing there aren't too many on tv here, as I would probably be in front of the television a little too much!

Sorry I hate cooking shows, they make things so easy and perfect that makes me cringe. But it is fun watching Martha Stewart and imagine sitting in jail at the same time :) :)

Well, honestly it depends. When I'm in a really hungry state I tend to hate cooking shows. However, generally they're totally fine. I learn about new ingredients or recipes from them, and though it's rare that I'd try and follow the exact procedures, etc., I still appreciate it.

Wow! Not a lot of folks seem to have cooked the recipes shown on TV cooking shows. I haven't either. I enjoy watching a cooking show whenever I have time, but can't say they're helpful because there always seems to be at least one impossible to find ingredient. Crazy producers! Go figure...

Yes, I love watching Tv about cooking. I’m watching all day. My favorite are Olivier Samuel and Ana Olson. I love their recipes but I can’t cook like them because I don’t have the necessary ingredients. I my town I don’t find them.

Well, for Martha Stewart's recipes, I can't be bothered to go find those tools or ingredients. Plus, usually you don't try out the thing right away with the TV set in front of you. I wonder if all those cooking shows actually help people with cooking!

I enjoy TV cooking shows but never get to try them, I get tips and ideas though. I particularly like watching Jamie Oliver. He is very practical and fun to watch.

I too enjoy cooking shows. Jamie Oliver doesn't play much over here anymore. But I do like to watch...

Quick Fix meals with Robin Miller, don't much like her seasoning, but get a lot of ideas on mixing ingredients and such.

Tyler Florence and like his recipes as well.

Barefoot Contessa with Ina Garten is always good. can't say I have made any of her recipes but love to watch the show.

I still like to watch Rachael Ray's 30 minute meals, once in a while. I also like some of her dishes, and have tried her recipes they are pretty easy and strong flavors so they work well for hubby.

and I watch the old Michael Chiarello shows Easy Entertaining, he has some good ideas too.

Okay I will quit. LOL!!

A lot of the shows I like. But it seems as though the Food Network often repeats episodes of their shows a bit too much.

I love watching cooking shows on TV. I've learned a lot of techniques and food tips just by watching them. The cooking shows also give me ideas for trying new dishes and seasonings.

My favorite cooking shows:

1. Guy's Big Bite (Guy Fieri)
2. Tyler's Ultimate (Tyler Florence)
3. Paula's Home Cooking (Paula Deen)
4. Everyday Italian (Giada DeLaurentiis)
5. Barefoot Contessa (Ina Garten)
6. 30 Minute Meals (Rachel Ray)
7. Molto Mario (Mario Batali)

I've even made some of the recipes that I saw on the cooking shows. One example is a moist apple Bundt cake that Paula Deen made. I've bake it three times already and I love this moist cake.

I LOVE watching shows about cooking, not only on the FoodTV Network, but on the PBSCreate channel. Lots of good stuff and I've made several of the recipes on these shows.
I particularly like the new Giada At Home on FoodTV. She has come up with some great recipes and I love her kitchen. The window looks out on the Pacific Ocean. But it's really about the food. ;)

I will watch some of them and sometimes I do try the recipes, but some of the chefs live with their heads in the clouds. When they're telling you to use these ingredients that you can't even find in the states and tools and machines that cost hundreds of dollars. Guh!
That is why I like Alton Brown's show (yes, him again). He uses a screwdriver to crack crabs and he scoops pie with a trowel he bought at Home Depot for $4. Also a lot of his show is about teaching you a better technique, not really to use crazy ingredients.
I mean, his sirloin recipe only calls for olive oil, salt and black pepper. He just shows you how to use your broiler for a better cooking technique and how to cut the meat so that it's more tender. I can appreciate that because I already have oil, salt, pepper and an oven. No need to fly to France to pick up my ingredients.

I like TV shows about cooking, sometimes it inspires me to make my own recipes and wrote into book. Some recipes of mine in low budget but still healthy and easy to make, less than 30 minutes. What about you? Have you ever wrote your own recipes after watching cooking TV Show?

I watch and try to do the recipes. If you find the ingredients too expensive, you can substitute them with cheaper ones. Usually they mention the substitutes that you can use.

I love cooking shows, but only when I have a fighting chance at learning new technique. Rachel Ray, Sandra Lee, etc. - those chuckleheads all make stuff I already know how to make, and even in the rare occasion they make something I don't recognize by recipe, it's something that's based off a technique I already know.

I want a cooking show to inspire me to a new level - take the next step - go out on a limb somewhere, teach me how to work with an ingredient I've never encountered, never mind attempted... CHALLENGE ME, DAMN YOU! :D

Watching Rob Rainford on CanadianFoodtvnetwork right now.
He BBQ's with penache.
My favorite pass time when I am home is all channels in all rooms are set to cooking channels. So food network-style-hgtv-PBS-discovery and all others. I TiVo them so when i'm home I may watch 5 episodes of Lydia or 7 of Jacque Pep or all recorded America's Test Kitchen I have saved or maybe it's No Reservations in the kitchen with Julia.
I'll never tire of watching these.

Now I will say some TV chefs I am over. Their schtick is annoying after a while and I'm not a fan of predictable. They're fun and new at first but then oy vey. :(

Although I've made several of the recipes I've
learned from tv, most are successful while others are total flops. Example: one tv cutie makes a pasta fagioli calling for a " months worth" of rosemary and not thinking, I followed it. Although I couldn't believe how much she dropped in or the recipe called for (while making it) the end result was nothing short if hideous. I mean REALLY

I used to watch a lot of cooking shows. Now I can't stand Rachael Ray, she gets on my nerves. I still like Alton Brown, he has lots of knowledge. Other than that, I don't watch much food tv, other than man vs. food and diners, drive ins and dives.

What the hell was that he called himself doing near the end there? And he didn't even finish making the soup!

Sometimes I watch cooking shows but the problem is the unavailability of the necessary ingredients, that's why I can't cook any of the recipes. I also bought recipe books, still I haven't cook any of them. The problem is also the ingredients, especially in our place it's hard to find.

I watch cooking shows all the time. I can always make a recipe better if I have the visual of seeing it done. I watch quite a few shows on food network but I would really love to see them gear more into ethnic cuisine. I would love to see some authentic Mexican and Asian dishes. I'm sure that they are more mainstream so it probably won't happen but I would still like to see it.

I watch cooking shows (some of them, not all) because as an avid cook I like seeing how others prepare a recipe that I make myself. I have picked up some good tips, different methods and some good information from people who do the same thing I do, but differently. Sometimes I decide I like my way better. LOL.

If there is one type of show that I definitely love to watch, then it is cooking show. Since I was a kid, i have always enjoyed watching it because aside from the fact that I can learn a lot, I really love to cook and of course eat. Some cooking shows that I love to watch are Iron Chef, Quickfire and ka-toque.

Good Eats is the only cooking show I can watch. I just find most of the others to be too boring. I like an explanation and puppets to go along with my recipes and that is what Alton brings to the table on Good Eats.
