There are certain foods that damage the stomach or make you ill or you are just forbidden to eat. How do you manage to keep away from them?
Do you replace them with other foods? Do you sometimes just have a taste? How do you do this?

I guess I simply have a strong will and try to do my best to abstain myself from foods that I know to be bad for my health or are forbidden to eat. I can't recall ever having trouble in pulling this off. If it's mandatory to forgo from something, than I simply consider that dish as inexistent and, perhaps, try to replace it with something - if possible - similar.

Maybe you’re pertaining to those who are sick. For example, I’m a diabetic. Of course, when you have diabetic disease is advisable to stay away from sweet foods for obvious reasons.

I can’t manage to stay away from them because my mother likes to cook those sweet foods and I’m only staying with my mother.

I try.. but i don't always manage..
I had some problems with my stomach some years ago and i couldn't eat oranges, tomatoes, i couldn't drink some juices.. it was horrible :D
Then it passed but still i have to keep myself away from those foods.. but i can't.. how can i live without oranges? It's just too much.. so i try and eat those foods, but in small quantities, i never ever exaggerate.

The best way for me sometimes is to just eat something and get sick afterwards. And then for many months I just remember the "nice' reaction and just be a good kid afterwards. Sometimes I'm really a kid :D

I have a digestive problem and it produces some severe symptoms at times. My consultant helped me to identify the things in my diet that trigger a strong reaction and I have managed to cut most of those items out of my diet. In my case the problem foods are coffee, carbonated drinks, artificial sweeteners, various grains (but oats are good) and certain types of fruit. I can't eat apricots, dates or rhubarb without ill effects, but I like them so occasionally I do eat a small amount and suffer for it afterwards.

I don't have any serious problems, but I learned over the years that when I eat cold things (mostly drinks) too much, or too fast, I get stomachaches. My body is generally cooler than average, so warming up is always a good idea for me. So I've simply learned to pace myself and not drink something in one gulp.

Sometimes try, but i don't always manage to keep away from foods that are unhealthy for my stomach. I can't really say I suffer from digestive problems, but I do have an indigestion or stomach ache from time to time... My doctor told me the ingredients that is an absolute mustn't are artificial sweeteners. I've even tried replacing these kind of products with other foods, but it's not very easy to do it...

Manuela, does that mean diet coke is an absolute no-no? I'm all for coke but I just hate the diet flavor. It tastes too sweet for me, or a bit fake maybe, because of the artificial sweeteners.

Yes, diet cola and all diet drinks are bad for your teeth and for the stomach and bowel. My doctor told me to cut it out completely because of my digestive problems, it made a big difference. I used to never think about things like that, but once you develop a digestive problem you never get back to how you used to feel.

I encounter stomach problems when I combine water with green apples ( I love apples!nooo! ), cooked union, large quantities of cooked/baked herbs and when I eat cabbage. Oh, and milk, because it gives me gas. My best friend can't eat at KFC because it's too spicy for him.

Water with green apples? Do you mean, eating green apples and then drinking water or something like that? Also, are you lactose intolerant if you can't drink milk? My parents both can't drink milk, but I personally have no problems with it.

What do you mean by eating combining green apple with water is bad for you? This is the first time that I heard that a fruit I bad for anyone’s health. You seem different. Do you have any disease or something that makes you say that?

Oh, another thing that's puzzling me... why would you combine green apple with water? I'm just curious, because for me, apples are often substitutes for water in a sense that if I eat an apple I usually don't get very thirsty.

I don’t know what the purpose of this thread is because basically no food is bad for you. As I recall there are a lot of indigenous foods that aren’t accepted in other countries like the balut and a lot more from the Philippines. Is this what you are pertaining to?

No, I'm always thirsty after I eat apples. I need water to quench my thirst. Fruits won't do the trick for me. When I was little, I went to the doctor because of this. When I combined water and green apples, I "visited" the toilet very often. The doc said that I should eat the apples without the peel (jacket) and avoid drinking water for an hour or two. Weird, isn't it?
