My mom has this old oven in which she still makes cookies and roasts and whatever. Others prefer a new oven, a good reason would be that a new one doesn't burn the food... :)
What do you think?
Do you still have an old one and you are extra careful or do you have a new one?

I have a two-year-old gas oven that is just about the worst oven ever made. The temperature gauge is about 50 degress off, and it cooks really really unevenly-- and in an unpredictable way! It took me several months to work out its quirks so I could make cookies.

I had an Aunt that complained about her oven being off temperature and how it was a hassle to try to cook. I asked her why she didn't change the setting on the knob. She looked at me funny so I walked over to her stove, pulled the knob off, and showed her the inside of the knob....there is a plastic or metal plate that can be turned to "tune" it to the proper temperature. You might want to check your own oven dial.
I have a 70's electric stove and I wish I had gas which is more controllable temperature-wise. I also have a GF Grill, a GF Rotisserie, portable convection oven, microwave oven, and indoor electric grill. I'm ready for anything that hits my fancy.

We have a normal old oven.
We use it until these days and it is quite a good one. It doesn't burn food, it doesn't even look old. My wife sees to that :)
It has some years but we still rely on it since it i a good brand and we didn't have problems with it.
We also have a microwave. It is very useful when heating pizza :)

I have an old one, it used to be my moms..
I cannot afford a new one at the moment so this one will have to do for me.
It's not very good, it burns the cakes on the bottom and i hate it for that, but on the other hand it's all i have and until i will afford to buy a new one, this one will do.

I actually just put in a commercial oven (http://www.foodservicewarehouse.com/Equipment.Ovens) with my kitchen re-model. It is wonderful when trying to cook for a large party. I also have a microwave, but it is pretty much shot (I think I've had it since college...), so I am actually looking to buy a new one. If anyone has any suggestions about what microwaves last the longest, it would be much appreciated.

I have a nine-year-old electric oven in my apartment kitchen that works fine. The dial was off by 25 degrees according to the oven thermometer. I didn't know that you could adjust the dial until I read a post above. Thanks, I'm adjusting the oven dial now.

I have an electric full size oven and a smaller counter top convection/convectional/roaster oven that I use at home.
I really miss cooking with the gas convection ovens in the kitchen I used to run. So much nicer to use.
I have a Black and Decker cookmaster 8.
It really is the business and wipes the floor with any oven I've ever used!
It's the residential version of the US army issue kitchen decimator, and can be bought Mail order or from any 7/11.

I have a Rangemaster 110 Leisure, which is a double gas oven. It also has a warming ceramic hob & griddle. It is about 15 years old but still works beautifully & looks as good as new.
However I always use a meat thermometer when roasting meat & would recommend everyone to do the same, only because I know it's the safest way to cook meat. Most ovens actually overcook the meat, but if you have a thermometer it tells you exactly when it's done.

I have cooked on electric all my life and I love it. My oven is one of the best and works like a charm. It's a GE Profile, 8 years old and never had a problem. I have the temperature checked by a Sears technician about every year, and it never varies by more than 2 degrees and that's pretty accurate.
Now that I live alone I use my DeLonghi toaster oven almost exclusively. I love it and use it for broiling, toasting and baking. I can't see turning on the big oven for just one or 2 baked potatoes or a little casserole.

Hi DW
I agree for a jacket potato I use my Panasonic convection oven, in fact I'd be lost without it, your toaster sounds good though.

Hi,
I have a new oven that works greatly, it cooks my food very well in an easy and fast way. My mother has an old oven that doesn't work as good as mine, but she takes good care of it. Also, the latest the thing, the better performance!
My mom has this old oven in which she still makes cookies and roasts and whatever. Others prefer a new oven, a good reason would be that a new one doesn't burn the food... :)
What do you think?
Do you still have an old one and you are extra careful or do you have a new one?
One oven? How can you survive? ;) I have three: two in my dual-oven gas range and an electric micro/convection combo. And on holidays, they're all going! LOL

I currently don't have an oven. I'm working on a complete remodel. I have been researching ovens and am impressed with the Kenmore Pro Double ovens. Does anyone have experience with Kenmore ovens?
My grandmother baked beautiful goodies in a wood burning oven. I was like she could sense what temperature the oven was at.

I'm using an old stove that was already in the apartment when I moved here
in '02.
The oven is off by about 25 degrees, so I must tweak the temp by trying to regulate it with the thermometer that I bought for the oven.

I have, or rather my parents have a very old gas stove/oven. Its probably from around the 50's or60's. I love it. I learned how to cook on it. The pilot light goes out every time you go to turn a burner on so you have to light it almost every time. The oven temp control doesn't work so I have learned to look at the flame underneath to adjust the temp. Besides that it works great, very even temperature. Its like an old friend. My mom wants to get rid of it:eek:, but I won't let her. I love that thing.

I have an old electric oven that doesn't cook evenly, but gets the job done.

I have an older propane self-cleaning oven that works well and I have recently purchased a Toaster Oven by Breville. The first one I got had a problem with the fan sounding like a motor boat engine. The replacement (took the first back to the store) is very nice and works as it should. It is called a Smart Oven. It is more money then many others out there, but the features and the looks makes this one a winner for me. :)

I thought about getting this also!
It looks somewhat like the Waring Pro Countertop Convectgion Oven which comes in two different sizes.
But I DO have the Thane Countertop Convection Oven, the one with the big clear dome cover which is pretty powerful and it Gets the Job Done!

What type of food do you prepare in the Thane Countertop Convection Oven? I have read people will cook frozen meat in this oven. If you have done this, how do you flavor them? Chickens normally come with giblets in them. If frozen in the bird, do you cook with the giblets left inside?

I forgot - it is actually called the Thane Flavorwave Countertop Convection Oven.
I've never done it yet.
But the trick is that you buy the whole chicken or roast fresh (not frozen), as you nomally would.
And then you clean it up, as you would (remove giblets and other things from inside bird and any excess fat), season it with your favorite seasonings or dry rub. Pack tightly and freeze.
When the time comes and you want a mouth-watering roast beef, pork, chicken or even a turkey, simply take the frozen roast or bird out and place it on the bottom rack, put the dome on, set the heat control to about 400 degrees and the timer to whatever minutes per pound, and the meat should cook normally.
I've done turkey breast and turkey parts as well as baked chicken, and all of it was cooked to tender juicy perfection. The food wasn't dry inside, but the skin was crispy-dry and golden, the way that I like it, while the meat inside was quite tender and very tasty!
The key is the powerful bright orange-glowing glass-encased Halogen heating element and the cyclonic fan which swirls the superheated air to practically blast-roast the meat to tendery juicy perfection, while quickly searing the meat on the outside to retain flavor & taste.

Well we just bought a new home and the range that was in here was just like the one that I had in my apartment and I really felt that I need to replace it as I was sick of apartment ovens.
I did lots of research and with my limited budget, I think that I found the perfect range with lots of features, it is a samsung convection range. I have used the convection feature with great success and the convect roast feature (uses the broiler along with the fans to brown meats to perfection and it really works great). It has a warming drawer and a keep warm function in the oven. Add to that a proofing function and a self clean and steam clean function and I am one happy camper!

Didn't even know that Samsung made free-standing ranges at all.

Yes they do, it is a fairly new venture for them here in the US, I think that they have been selling them abroad a bit longer.
They also make those nice front loading washers and dryers (my sister has those and they run almost silent) refridgerators, dishwashers and over the range microwave ovens, I also purchased the over the range microwave and it is very handsome and powerful as well.
They have lots of samsung products at Lowes home improvement, I have also seen them at HHGregg and Sears.
