I was talking to my sister the other day and she told me she wanted another area to bake cookies and cakes when she's baking a set in her regular oven. She have been researching which convection/micro combo to purchase but has not found the answer regarding how it cooks. I couldn't find anything, either.

Does anyone have one and do you regularly bake in it?

What exactly is a convection oven used for? I was always curious.

What exactly is a convection oven used for? I was always curious. An oven having a fan that shortens cooking time by circulating hot air uniformly around the food.

You see them in both conventional and microwave ovens. For a microwave, you would actually achieve browning and other benefits because of the circulating heat, plus achieve the fast cooking speed of a microwave.

I have a portable convection oven (not microwave) and things cook about 1/3 or more faster and at lower temperatures (about 25°F lower) so there is a time and energy savings. For crispy chicken you can't beat it.

Thanks! That actually sounds really useful, I should look into getting one.

Never used a convection/microwave combo before. I loved cooking with convection ovens at my old summer job, so much nicer and faster.

I still remember the first cake I made that had waves in it because I forgot to turn the fans down to "low".

hi, this is my first post:) i had just recently purchased a convection oven. its about the same size as a microwave and it big enough inside to fit a frozen pizza. I love making things in it because it takes less time and doesnt use gas.

I had one of these years ago. I didn't like it, and the people that were staying with me, at the time, were drug addicts and they stole it and sold it to get money for crack!
