everytime I bake choc chip cookies they turn out flat and hard. Does anyone know the secret to soft choc chip cookies?
Hey!
I'm new here, I just popped in and saw your dilemma. Check your recipe. Sounds like they're not rising. Try this recipe:
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups butter, softened
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 (3.4 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups chopped walnuts (optional)
Mix together flour and baking soda in one bowl. In another bowl mix together butter, brown sugar, white sugar, and vanilla pudding. Mix in the eggs and vanilla. Gradually add the flour mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. The vanilla pudding makes them soft and chewy. Just make sure you don't overbake.

I have not seen many cookie recipes with pudding in them. I might give this a try.
Welcome to the forum to you both:D .
You should try banana creme pudding mix in oatmeal cookies. Yum! :D

I have a great recipe for what you're looking for. These cookies stay very soft and do not flatten while baking. Go to

I have found that with the cookies I do... the longer they in the crunchier or harder they get, try cooking for less time. Just make sure u dont tip of tray- let cool on tray for 5mins before removing them.
There is a recipe on my blog that works this way

Reason 1 :The reason for flat chocolate chip cookies is that you overbeat the butter. Just beat the butter and sugar together until they just come together.
Reason 2 : Bakingsoda is not even distributed. I always desolve the baking soda in 1/2 teaspoon of water and add it to the butter/sugar and mix it in before the flour goes in.
Keep those 2 things in mind and you will have beautyful cookies.
Good luck backing
