File powder

File powder is (apparently) an essential ingredient in ..erm..scuse the spelling - but File Gumbo? It seems to be impossible to get hold of outside the southern US - believe me, I have searched high and low. Now, I know there's a thread on here from a Ukrainian member, pleading for someone to send him some peanut butter - and I don't want to beg for File powder, - I am perfectly capable of buying it if anyone knows of anywhere that will ship it to Ireland! I'm also happy to send money via Paypal to anyone who can get hold of the stuff and post it to Ireland - I just want to get my hands on some. If anyone knows how I could manage this, I'd be delighted. Only too happy to reciprocate with hard-to-get-hold-of Irish foods/ingredients (are there any?). Anyway, thought it was worth asking - nothing ventured, nothing gained :)

You can get it at Penzys, I think that they will ship world wide.

I think it is sometimes called Gumbo File or just ground Sassafras

Sorry Compbrake, and thanks for looking, but that link doesn't ship to Ireland, and jimbo - also thanks, but I can't find File Powder at Penzeys! Guess my search continues...

Edited to add - I just found it at Penzeys under G for Gumbo File! Woot - OK, thanks tons - silly me was looking under F. :) Off to place an order now!

Update - I tried ordering from Penzey's but they wanted to charge me €38.99 to ship a small packet! However, I'd asked on another forum, and someone pointed me to http://www.seasonedpioneers.co.uk which ships to Ireland for only £4.95 - so my order is placed (along with some Creole seasoning, and some Cajun Blackened and ordinary seasonings) and should be here in the next week or so. Thanks to all who took the time to investigate for me - got there in the end!
