Let's talk about fast food and fast food restaurants here. We can discuss healthy menu choices, and what is great for the taste buds too.

I shall start. Here in Canada at my retail job when I am working in the mall ( I have a nurse interview tommorow) I am surrounded by fast food choices. I rarely make a lunch and take it with me. Instead I go and buy something. The biggest down fall of fast food has to be the greese. I don't count calories or any of that stuff, I just try to eat something from each food group with out too much fat or greese. Anyways in my quest for little greese these are some of the foods I eat and places I go:

Subway: I love subway, but the main downside is the cost. I often spend
$8-9 on lunch, and I always think to myself that is alot of money to spend on one meal. I usually choose the chicken teriyaki sub which I think tends to be one of the more pricey ones. Another nice thing about subway is that you can get custom made salads. Once again they tend to be a little bit pricey but they certianly win points with me on the health factor.

KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken).
Well I don't go to KFC that often but when I go, I usually get one of two things. First of all their chicken salad. Secondly the KFC twister. I avoid fries one because I don't care for them that much and two they are soooooo greasy.

Quiznos is another place I really like. There is not one that close by to where I work at the moment so I don't go their often but they have nice and hearty soups and sandwiches.

When I do order burgers (yes I love burgers too), I usually opt to not get fries and instead have a salad with it. That in itself can make the meal a bit healthier. If they don't put too much dressing on the salad then that dramatically decreases the greese factor.

Toco Time and Toco bell are another two of my favourites. I LOVE mexican food. I know it can be greasy though. Once again I often avoid getting the mexi fries (also known as tator tots). I usually order burritos or tocos.

As far as my favourite food goes PIZZA!!!! I find with fast food the grease is very difficult to avoid. That is why home made pizza is the ultimate best because you can control everything! We don't fry pizza but instead bake it nice and golden.

That is my two sense for today on fast food.

I noticed poor Ronnie Macs didn't make it to your list, perhaps because there's nothing tasty in their healthy menu selection. I try their salads here & there but they always taste like someone made them do it. Not as much love as they put into the grease inspired menu.

Subway's bread REALLY lacks otherwise I'd go there more, although it's better when they used toasted.
I do love quiznos & taco shops, you ever get the Taco Salad?
What do you think of the quickie chinese food? do you have Panda express?

I have not been to Mcdonalds in a long time. Their Deli sandiwches are quite good I do recall though and they are not too greasy if I remember right, it has been a long time.

We don't have Panda Express in Canada..What type of food do they sell?

I LOVE chinese food. However I find it quite greesey. I do still eat it sometimes anyways, but if I am trying to be more on the healthy side I would probably not pick it.

Panda express is chineseish fast food, fried rice sweet & sour things crispy meat & stuff, like a fast food buffet. my section of the world has many.

But more importantly ...McD's DELI SANDWICHES??? Really? What are they? What sort of packaging do they have? nerd alert I get so excited with non typical non US menu items, that's just cool!

Here you go Satine

This is the only one I have tried. Check out the link to the Mcdonalds Canada page. http://www.mcdonalds.ca/en/food/tds.aspx

There is one McDonalds here that does not sell burgers or milkshakes. It only has so called Healthy menu items such as these sandwiches salads fruit, fruit salad, yogurt, that sort of thing. It is located inside our only Walmart Kind of interesting.... I forget what the packaging looks like.

I don't eat that much fast foods (or takeaway as we call it here in Australia) but when I do it will be a McDonalds breakfast if I am out on the road or Hungry Jacks. I don't mind KFC but it is so greasy so I will have it only now and again.

I think that everything should be eaten in moderation so I don't see a problem with fast foods as long as they don't become part of a regular eating plan.

I think Hungry Jacks is the equivalent of Burger King.

Ok, So I am an official "old guy", but whatever happened to cooking extra once a week and then taking leftovers to work? As busy in life as we all are, don't we need to get back to the basics of health? BTW, This comes from a 58 year old that weighs 360 pounds, so I am no angel myself.

My favourite fast food is KFC but I only have it occasionally. Hungry Jacks make the best hamburgers (I am also from Australia Jenyfari).

Subway is a good alternative but I prefer to make my own lunch these days. A slab of pita or mountain bread with lots of healthy salad and salmon or chicken.

I also like Thai and Turkish food but again only now and then.

Hey Benni

What is mountain bread?

Can you give us some examples of Turkish food, or post a recipe?

I'm not a big fan of fast food, but it is really really good!!! lol

I try to avoid it, but this post is making me want to head to the local burger king or taco bell and just go crazy.

Maybe we should change the focus onto those chains or franchises that supply GOOD food, FAST ???
