cook and stir the meat well untill well done, this dish rarely works when the meat is rare or medium.
just before the beef lumps are fully brown add onion and garlic, give a really good stir, also then add mushroom - stir, and any other veggies you fell suitable
heat untill boils, reduce heat, let the dish simmer for a bit with the occasional stir and ensure the lentils are tender [stick a fork in]
my rating out of ten: 9
time taken at home: 40 mins
in restaurant: 30 mins

I used to cook lentils. This might be a good thing to try!
