A little while ago, my boyfriend took me to a vietnamese restaurant. I ordered a dish and it came with sugar caine. I ate some of it. I was wondering is it meant to be eaten or just sucked on?
Thanks
:D :p :p

All around India you will see cane Whaggas, who crush the cane to extract the juice... which they then sell for 20 Rupees (less than 50 cents). The street kids will grab the leftover pulp to eat it and get the last bit of nutrition out.

I assume it was meant to be eaten, Liketobake. At least, that's what I would have done from what I know about it...
@ heavyG, that's a fascinating thing you told about India... I should really visit the country someday. You made me curious. :o

This is the first time that I heard someone eating them as some part of main dish. I already know that they are making into sugar and I remember chewing it when I was a boy, but I never heard that you can eat it. Maybe this is some especial kind of delicacy like the shark’s fin.
