I have heard that white bread is made from bleaching the flour
Is it good to have bread in breakfast everyday?
What are the other alternatives that one can have for breakfast if there is no time to cook?
(well I have tried cornflakes, but I am bored of eating it everyday)

Not good for Type 1 diabetics though. Too many carbs.

Bread can certainly be incorporated into a healthy diet, as long as you are not suffering from diabetes as Big Daddy's House said above.
White bread should be eaten in moderation as it is the least healthy for you. White bread is often made with bleached flour, but can be made with unbleached with flour with similar results (the two flours are very similar). A healthier alternative to white bread is 100% Whole Wheat bread, make sure the package says 100% whole wheat, there are a lot of confusing labels out there claiming whole grains and such.
I eat the 100% whole wheat regularly, but I do enjoy a good country white bread or italian bread every so often.

Whole wheat bread is probably one of the healthiest. But as for white bread, it can mkae you gain weight very quickly. And I love hot bread straight out of the oven with butter. Yummmmmmmmmmmm!!

Whoopie Pie, you're so right! But there are 2 types of it.
In my case, I'm Type 2, which means that I can't ever eliminate any starch from my diet. Some of it is needed to balance the glucose level.
So that I'm not in danger of going into a hypoglycemic attack.

Actually white bread won't make you gain weight any faster than whole wheat, unless the white bread that you eat has a significantly higher number of calories. White bread will spike blood sugar levels faster than whole wheat, but isn't directly responsible for weight gain. It is all about calories in vs. calories out.
The diet industry has created so much confusion.

When I am heavy I am hypoglycemic. My blood sugar will drop between meals to the point of shaking, sweating and general loopyness, so I have to eat all day long. When the weight is closer to normal, that hypoglycemia becomes pretty much non-existent. The hypoglycemia makes dieting difficult since you have to eat all the time and find low calorie foods that will still keep your blood sugar levels up.

Same here.
Fruit-2-O is good for that.
It helps keep the glucose level in your blood from getting too dangerously low.
Also a trail mix or a granola bar.

Too much white bread can lead to extra weight gain/belly fat.
From WebMD:
"New research shows what many health experts have long said. It's not carbohydrates, per se, that lead to weight gain, but the type of carbs eaten. Their research shows that people who ate more refined and processed foods, such as white bread and white rice, had more belly fat."
It is complicated, as you said, WhoppiePie. But white bread may very well lead to belly fat, if not weight gain. Link to entire article below.

Interesting. But I do feel that it is overconsumption of these types of foods that is the problem. People that are eating lots of white bread and refined foods probably eat pretty unhealthy to begin with, creating a snowball effect.
I think white bread is like a lot of things, eaten in moderation can be OK, but a constant diet of it is bad news.:)
If people just tried things like brown rice (boil-in-bag is quick and easy, and nutritionally the same as the long cook stuff), and a good whole wheat bread, they may never go back to the white stuff. I do love white bread, but it has to be fresh baked, not the stuff from the bread aisle.

Whoopie Pie, you are correct. Even though it may not be as nutritious as whole wheat or grain breads, white bread in moderation is fine. I love good home-made fresh, hot-out-of-the-oven white bread smothered with butter. It is less what we eat in most cases than how much of it we eat.

Fiber makes you feel fuller longer, therefor if you eat it you are likely to eat less. People who have refined flours are likely to eat more or eat more often to feel full.
that's why people think white/bleached flour is bad when the truth is that it's just not that good.
fiber, like what is found in multi-grain and whole wheat breads is also good for your "plumbing".
Fiber is processed more slowly.

My body runs so much better when I get my fiber. I eat bran flakes or raisin bran in the morning, and whole wheat bread at lunch with an apple. On the weekends when my diet isn't quite as good, I really notice, and it takes me a day or two to get the plumbing working right again, lol!

I think the whole wheat breads are good but from what I read somewhere not all of them are real whole wheat, so basically we have to check the ingredients of the bread before buying or eating them.
Well of course, bread is healthy. I drink to bread is still a bit of acai juice (http://www.acaibeeren.net/monavie-acai-saft.php). Then you have one of the healthiest food.

Alternatives to bread at breakfast was suggested in the original post, here are a few. I focus quite a bit on protein at breakfast time as this keeps you fuller for longer.
Omelette with a mix of one or more of tomato, mushroom, onion, cheese, have this with baked beans if you're really hungry.
Big field mushrooms stuffed with spinach and cheese, served with tinned tomatoes and little potatoes.
Yoghurt with uncooked oats and berries (fresh or frozen then microwaved) or fruit puree or stewed fruit.
Egg, bacon and hash browns (minus the bread).
When I was living in Asia, I never ate bread we had rice at breakfast.

I still have no idea how these losers get through ! There is a fundamental problem with new posters. I understand that this web page is at the top of Google search and is cause for much celebration but it then opens this website to continuous spamming with a pathetic firewall that these people must laugh at. Come on Tyler FFS, get your act togeather !!!!!!
I'm putting on the moderator hat here and I'm bringing out the banning wand on this one.
You've already wrote that post in this forum of the board. The Garlic thread and again, the same post in another thread!!
Seems to me that YOU'RE the one who is a spammer now, as well as recklessly yelling at staff members constantly now. Which is why I decided to change your suspension period from two weeks to a month now.
Enjoy your time off.

Here's the reason why, too much bread/white bread is bad for the health:
1. white bread contains a large proportion of high GI (glycemic index) carbohydrates. These carbohydrates cause sugars to be released quickly into the bloodstream that causes a rapid rise in blood sugar levels which triggers a similarly rapid release of the body’s own sugar regulating hormone, insulin.
2. raised levels of bad LDL cholesterol in your bloodstream. This can lead to problems such as heart disease related to the narrowing of the arteries.
3. Another negative effect of eating white bread is on the body’s metabolism. This is retarded causing reduced efficiency in digestion and greater fat storage, which is more often than not accumulated around the belly.
Hope this will help you;)

Eating white bread is not advisable for your health because it takes long in digestion but for the brown bread it is quickly digested and absorbed to the body so i prefer brown bread to white.

Bread is lovely especially with cheese (terrible I know) but wholegrain bread can be incorporated to a healthy diet (white bread not so good).
white bread is not good for health. My doctor suggested me to use wheat bread. It is good for digestion.

I make my own white bread using organic flour, and adding seeds - sesame, pumpkin, sunflower, poppy - for texture and fibre. Sometimes I sprinkle pinhead oatmeal on the crust before baking too. I also make wholemeal bread from time to time, and soda bread (bread which uses buttermilk and bicarbonate of soda as a raising agent, not yeast) now and then.
I guess we have a couple of slices each a day, sometimes more, sometimes less. I prefer home-made because that way I know exactly what's in it - and if it goes stale more quickly than shop-bought, no problem, the garden birds and chickens don't seem to mind! It makes lovely breadcrumbs for the freezer, too.
Breakfast suggestions (excluding bread) - what about hardboiling a few eggs the night before, so you can grab them on your way out of the door? Or make a quiche and have a slice for breakfast? Cold roast chicken drumsticks are good too, or perhaps a yoghurt. Wholewheat cereals like Shredded Wheat or Weetabix are good, or a no-added-sugar muesli - or even porridge!

That bread sounds heavenly darkginger, how did you learn to bake?
I usually start my day with a piece of 100% whole wheat with organic cracked wheat toast with butter and marmite!
