Im relatively new to cooking but really enjoying it and have done a few dishes that have gone down really well over the summer period.I was looking for a good salad recipe and found some really good ones at [URL="http://www.bestfoods.co.nz"]

I also tried their mayonnaise for the first time, and I have to say it has to have one of the most delicious tastes I have found in a bought mayonnaise.

Good luck to all the newbies and experienced cooks out there food is such a great way to enhance social occasions loving it.:)

I followed the recipe except for the mustard. I added Horseradish mustard instead. I absolutely love this recipe. The taste is just what I have been looking for. I am unable to wait for serving it at my next party or picnic.

I only use Best Foods Real Mayonnaise in my salads. I've tried other brands but found this to be the best tasting of those available in local supermarkets.

I usually get whatever the store brand is in supermarkets when needed.

Of course, I could make my own as well in the food processor.

Making your own is dead simple:

Ingredients
2 egg yolks
2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
salt and white pepper
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
300 ml / ½ pint Olive Oil

In a small bowl put the egg yolks with half the vinegar, salt and pepper and the mustard. Whisk the egg yolks for a minute until they thicken.
Add the oil one drop at a time as you whisk constantly. By the time you’ve added 2 tablespoons of oil the mixture should be quite thick. Start to add the oil in a steady trickle as you whisk constantly.
Once all the oil is incorporated, taste the mayonnaise and add more vinegar, salt, pepper or mustard as required.
If the mayonnaise is too thick for your purpose you can thin it with a tablespoon of warm water.
