My boyfriend has tried to make Long Island Ice Tea a few times, but he says it never turns out like the restaurant's. Is there some trick to making it? Anyone experinced with making it?

Thanks

not sure what recipe he is following so it is kind of hard to guess what he might be doing wrong. Does it taste too sweet? I will try to look for our recipe it works pretty well.

Hubby just reminded me that there is a bit of whiskey sour in there too.

Humm I know Tyler does not put whiskey in there so maybe that is the difference the missing link to why the long island ice tea is different.

This is my FAV drink!! I found this recipe on the Food Network Website and it tasted delish to me! ;)

2 cups ice cubes
1 ounce vodka
1 ounce gin
1 ounce rum
1 ounce tequila
1/2 ounce Triple Sec
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 cup cola, or to taste
2 lemon wedges

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour the vodka, gin, rum, tequila, Triple Sec, and lemon juice into the shaker. Cover and shake vigorously to combine and chill. Pour the mixture, ice and all, into 2 glasses or beer mugs and top off with the cola. Garnish with lemon wedges. Serve.

Of course, the cheap and easy way to make it is to pour Liptons iced tea over ice and add tequila and a lemon! (Not traditional but it works - That's what we used to do in college). ;)

Enjoy!! :D

I think that I should try it too, so that I could have the pleasure of tasting but the ingredients that are need looks like that they are expensive. I guess this is the reason why I never tried those recipes from TVs.

Well, it is an interesting recipe, but I think I lack almost half of the ingredients... :( Oh well, I'm not such a big fan of cocktails, so it's no biggy...

@ CookNFool, i've never heard of whiskey sour... Could you tell us a little more about it?
