Can you use chop sticks well?

I cannot, although I think I am very gradually improving. I seem to lack dexterity, coordination or something...

It's not too hard to use them. I had never used them before, and then all of a sudden, one day, I was able to. It was weird. I don't mind using them at all. Rice can be tricky if it's too loose, but other than that I don't have a problem.

I have tried on a number of occassions and although I have improved I generally end up getting a fork so I can at least finish the meal along with everyone else.

Mind it would be a way to lose weight seeing it takes so long to eat a meal.

Yes. I use them very well and often use them at home. I have several beautiful pairs.

I am pretty good at using them but only because when I was in high school I lived with a Korean family for about 6 months. I had to become an expert otherwise I would starve.

I must confess. In the middle of Iowa years ago, I used to go to a korean restaurant run by a 50's "war bride". For someone that thought "seafood" was fish sticks, it was divine.

For 20 years I have collected antique chopsticks, lately on e-bay and some are beautiful.

They are not hard to use if you practice, also, mind the table etiquette:

They are very easy to use; the trick is pretend that they do not exist. If you try to fixate on the two poles, you will end up losing your concentration instead.

I can use them quite comfortably indeed, but I still prefer forks. I didn't learn the "traditional" way, or the "correct" way. I just tried to hold it the way I would feel most comfortable and it worked. But I probably am not using it the right way, although it doesn't look like I'm horribly wrong or anything.

I find myself getting better at using them. My dad travels a lot and has brought us back several beautiful pairs. The kids get so excited when I pull them out. But I do have to admit the kids are better at using them then I am ...:p

Hi everyone, I'm kevin from perth western australia.
Speaking chopsticks, would anyone have an idea of where these might be from, not sure if they are ivory, they are pretty things and heavy, I've had them 5 years and not used them myself, the person who gave them to me had them 20 years or more so they are old to.
have promised them to a friend in another country but if they are ivory that kind of puts a halt to that plan. How does one tell?

Yes, I can use chopsticks quite well. I learned how while I was in Japan in the US Navy. The cook in a very small restaurant showed my shipmates and I how to eat with chopsticks.
