Does anyone here eat raw garlic regularly or take garlic supplements/tablets?

Do you feel your health or immune system has benefited from this?

Just curious..

I love garlic and use it in my dishes as often as pepper. Garlic has many benefits going back thousands of years if you look at chinese medecine. And yes, I also take a supplement... I LOVE All alliums, garlic, chives, leeks etc:

I too LOVE GARLIC! I eat it raw, cooked, carmelized and so on. I know it is a blood cleaner and does help the immune system too. I would have to go look it up but I might have the time for that after I get back to chicago but I am traveling right now.

I don't take em, though I might try em if I remember.
My dad always goes on about how garlic, rice and onions are the best foods on the planet! But he's probably right.
Plus it keeps the vampires away :D

I am also a fan of garlic. I love it roasted.

I took it as a supplement years ago but can't remember whether made me feel better or not.

Here is a litle something I keep in the frig most of the time as a side dish, or a topping for fish, meat, etc.

I also have been known to boost the number of cloves of garlic :)

Great Garlic Olives recipe

14 ounces pitted Kalamata olives, drained, minced or chopped
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 large cloves fresh garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon oregano leaves

Marinate drained olives in the olive oil, garlic and oregano in a covered container for a minimum of four hours, the longer the better.

I never eat raw garlic, but have eaten roasted garlic once in a while. I heard that one of the benefits of eating garlic is in the heart, although I don’t fully understood the benefits I really like the taste of roasted garlic in my mouth. I like to eat it together with the roasted peanuts.

I've never taken any garlic supplements... I'm not even sure I know if I've ever heard of such tablets.
I use garlic in my dishes quite frequently, though. I'm not an expert in naturist healt issues, but I've heard a lot of things about the benefit raw garlic can have on one's health.
Eating too much or eating it on an empty stomach can cause stomach ache.

I only eat garlic in the food and really dislike the smell :D

Never thought about eating it raw or getting supplements. It is indeed very healthy, that's for sure. Sometimes I do get a bit sick from it, maybe my liver is not as pleased with onions and garlic as it used years ago.

Yes you are right garlic improves immune system of your body, improves digestive system and reduce high cholesterol. My father who is BP patient use to take raw garlic in winter season because garlic is warm in nature and it helps to maintain blood pressure.

I love garlic. One of my fave breakfast dishes is plain toast where I rub a clove of garlic on both sides till it smells heavenly. Then I spread some butter over it all and eat with a cup of tea.

I often double the amount of garlic in a recipe.

I also take garlic supplements to help keep my blood pressure in line.

I love roasted garlic spread on crostini.

One of my fave potato recipes (Sherm - Don't worry, I will also put this in recipes section)

Roast New Potatoes (best if you can find REAL new potatoes, not just small potatoes mislabelled)

Use a baking dish that will hold all the whole potatoes tightly packed in. If potatoes are large cut into halves or quarters.

Drizzle with some good olive oil.

Salt and pepper to taste (really good with coarse sea salt)

You can use as many bulbs of garlic that you want. I usually use 2 for about 6-8 potatoes. Separate the garlic into individual cloves. Do not peel the garlic. Cover the potatoes totally with the cloves making sure that you put them into every space between the potatoes that you can. Cram them in there

Add a bit more oil and salt and pepper.

Roast at 350 degrees about 30-45 minutes depending on size of potatoes and your oven. Check to see if more olive oil is necessary as they roast.

To serve just place potatoes on a plate with the unpeeled garlic cloves. Using your fingers squish the garlic out of their skins, mash it a bit and put on a chunk of potato and enjoy. What you are eating is roasted garlic on a potato.

This dish will make your whole house smell like garlic. I don't know about you, but I LOVE that smell.

I worked over in Korea around Christmas about 5 years ago and I have never consumed so many raw cloves of garlic with meals in my life. A good way not to catch a cold !

I just banned him.

Upon checking his past posts, I found out that he had spammed the threads with the same spamming post.

I eat raw. It smells better if you mince it and squeeze lemon. My wife says so ;)

I used to take the capsules, then I switched to Garlique.

I'm on Simvastatin now - 80mg a day.
