I just recently bought a container of Mario Batali's Four Cheese Blend (aged provolone, asiago, parmesan, romano), and it is great. I've always just used shredded parmesan for pastas until I found this blend of shredded cheeses at Sam's. We used it last night for spaghetti. Um, um, good.

I also recently discovered Kitchen Basics stocks. It's almost as good as homemade.

What have you found lately that you would recommend?

Idahoan instant mashed potatoes!

They have all kinds of flavors .... a few minutes in the microwave and BOOM - you have DELICIOUS-tasting mashed potatoes!

The leftovers are a little watery before reheating, but they are still pretty good.

Another product I love is imported Italian tuna in olive oil. Pricey, but it's just the thing for a special Salade Nicoise or a pasta dish such as this one: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Artichokes-Capers-Olives-Lemon-Zest-and-Italian-Tuna-on-Pasta-Shells-101891

You know I don't think I have ever had packaged mashed potatoes. I always thought it was sacrilege. LOL I see alot of people talk about the Idahoan ones and I sure am tempted. I'm putting them on the list to try.

I'll be on the lookout for the imported Italian tuna, QSis. That epicurious recipe has all the goodies in it that I love.

We have an Italian market close by, I'll have to look there for the tuna. That recipe sounds awesome!!

I've heard good things about those Idahoan mashed spuds, too. I'm going to put them on my shopping list and give them a try. I love real mashed potatoes, and sometimes it's hard to use up a bag before they go funky on me, but I'm a big fan of quick and easy when the mood strikes me. And I hate peeling potatoes.

Mary, I would agree with you on every other brand that I've ever tried. These, though, are different!

I am a sucker for Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. It goes against my solid belief that all dishes should be made with fresh ingredients of the best quality and no artificial additives, flavors, store stock or enhancements added if at all possible. I understand however that there are many recipes that do use proprietary ingredients.

And I have to mention that I add plenty of tomato sauce ( ketchup ) as well. :o

Try making your own.
