I'm going to braise a pork shoulder roast this afternoon. I'm thinking about using sliced fennel, onions, carrots, and Guinness.

Any other suggestions??

I'm going to have to figure out the picture thing...

The roast turned out great. Rather than Guinness, I braised it for two and a half hours in a bottle of sauvignon blanc and some homemade chicken stock. The fennel was a nice addition, and a little white truffle oil went over the top before it went in the oven...
