Looks like my girls of the feathered variety have decided to get off their dufas and, well, get on their dufas, lol.
I wasn't impressed with the first egg of the year two days ago, but today's egg was impressive. Look at that size difference.

I've got five. Here they are trying to decide if the tomato pieces and carrot peels I through on the ground is worth the venture onto the dusting of snow. They decided it was. (cell phone pic, btw. downsized to roughly 640 x 480).

Every egg is like a present.
And I hope the girls stay nice looking. Sometimes they peck at each other something fierceful. It's nice to see them all pretty and feathered out after they've moulted. I'm surprised that first one there grew her tail feathers back.
Very cool, Fred!
I love that you have fresh eggs and beautiful hens!

Ohhh...they are beautiful Birds Fred! Those eggs look nice! Do you ever get double yolks?

Thanks you.
I got another this morning, still warm, and on the small side, so another hen's internal clock must have started ticking again... or would that be maternal clock? ;^)
Nope. Never had a double yolk, Mama. I've given a lot of eggs away, so I can't speak for all of them.

Actually, the days in the Northern Hemisphere ARE getting longer.
The preparation for spring & summer - everyone's favorite times of the year!!
And according to Ground Hog Day, the firry little guy didn't see his shaddow this time, so we're supposed to have an early spring this year. :)

Well the groundhog in PA and Ohio saw their shadows!! So we're having a later spring.

That's what I had heard, too. Six more weeks of winter.
But I wasn't sure if that meant an early Spring or a late Spring... If winter only lasted til the middle of March, I'd consider that an early Spring. I can't remember the last time March left like a lamb.

This country has already had a rough winter as it is, between monster snowstorms and bitterly cold weather!!
