Last night I made a big batch of rice and cut out a bunch of large sheets of plastic wrap.

When the rice was done I scooped the rice onto plastic wrap. The amount of rice was about 1.5-2 cups. I then wrapped the syran wrap around the rice, and put in the freezer. When I was done with each 'rice packet', I had made around 8 in total.

A Korean lady I used to visit often had told me this 'trick'; all you need to do when you want some rice is to take a rice packet from the freezer and microwave it, and you have nice hot instant rice.

Now, I've never tried this myself, and am hoping the rice will microwave fine. I tasted hers and hers was great, but I'm no Korean lady. At least not the last time I checked.

So this is my test. Hopefully the rice will turn out well. Then I won't have to wait so long whenever I want to make bacon and rice or have a bowl of rice, some veggies, and some marinated meat.

*PS. Here's a good tip. You might want to wait a little longer than I did before scooping the steaming hot rice onto the plastic, and let it cool down a bit first.. ;)

I'll keep you guys updated when I reheat my first "frozen rice pack".

That sounds like a great tip! I like to freeze lots of things, some weird. Anybody else have any freeziing tips??

AVOCADOS

YOU CAN FREEZE RIPE AVOCADOS BY GETTING THE MEAT OUT, AND PUTTING IT INTO A TUPPERWARE CONTAINER. THEN SQUEEZE LEMON OR LIME OVER IT AND FREEZE. THEN USE IT FOR YOUR NEXT PARTY ON GUACAMOLE.

EGGS

take them out of the shell, beat them slightly, then place one or two in ice cube trays, pop out when frozen, place in freezer bags and label

Celery

cook up celery, place in ice cube trays till frozen, then put in baggies for soups or any thing you want to season with it.

Bacon

I also freeze cooked bacon and bacon grease. I'll fry up a pound of bacon, drain the grease in a can and refrigerate the can until the grease is solid. I then scoop out the grease into balls, flash freeze on a cookie sheet, and place in a ziploc bag

I freeze potato chips when I buy them several bags at a time. They will keep for ages and do not get soggy.

I also freeze flour. I buy the large bags of flour and to be sure to keep it bug free, I freeze it. It is always ready for immediate use and will not clump together.

I better be careful if you ever ask me if I'd like some "ice" in water.. ;)

I do the bacon grease thing too, but I don't freeze it, I just but it in the fridge, and it like never goes bad.. try it. Then I use it instead of butter when I cook eggs or some other foods. Mmm.. bacon grease = heaven.

Guess what?!

Last night I took one of my frozen rice balls, took the plastic wrap off (It was easier than I though; I was afraid it might stick to the rice, but it came off pretty easily), and plopped it into a bowl. I then added 4 frozen teriyaki chicken wings and nuked them for around 4-minutes.

The result? WOOHOO! The rice came out perfect. Better than I had hoped even.. it tasted very fresh and had no pre-frozen taste at all.

So this is great. I can now have "instant rice" any time for a quick and healthy meal, without having to resort to any of that fake "instant rice" stuff found in the grocery stores. Plus, mine is even faster.. I just take a ball out of the freezer and nuke it, and it's done :)

That sounds great !! I will try it, thanks. I have tried to freeze pasta, but I find it comes out mushy when cooked. I add sauce and it freezes really well. go figure lol

Thanks Tyler! I know a lot of people that this will benefit. I will try it my self too. Great tips!
