Here's what you are going to need:
½ cup of butter
2 ¼ cups of Self-Rising Flour
1 cup of shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 teaspoon of dried parsley
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 cup of milk
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Place the stick of butter (½ cup) in an 8 x 8 baking dish and put in the oven to melt (about 3 to 5 minutes).
Remove from oven and set aside.
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cheese, parsley and sugar.
Add the milk and stir just until moist.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth.
This will only take a minute or two.
Shape into a 12 x 6 inch rectangle.
Cut into 12 one-inch strips.
Dip each strip in the butter, carefully turning to coat.
Fold in half and leave in the pan.
Arrange the biscuits in two rows of 6 biscuits.
There will be lots of leftover butter in the pan, as a matter of fact, they will look like they are swimming in butter but it will cook into the biscuits making them crisp and buttery.
Bake in a preheated 400 degree F. oven for 25 to 30 minutes until lightly browned.
Remove from pan and serve warm.
