Here's what you are going to need:
½ cup of butter
2 ¼ cups of Self-Rising Flour
1 cup of shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 teaspoon of dried parsley
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 cup of milk

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Place the stick of butter (½ cup) in an 8 x 8 baking dish and put in the oven to melt (about 3 to 5 minutes).
Remove from oven and set aside.

In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cheese, parsley and sugar.

Add the milk and stir just until moist.

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth.
This will only take a minute or two.
Shape into a 12 x 6 inch rectangle.

Cut into 12 one-inch strips.

Dip each strip in the butter, carefully turning to coat.
Fold in half and leave in the pan.

Arrange the biscuits in two rows of 6 biscuits.
There will be lots of leftover butter in the pan, as a matter of fact, they will look like they are swimming in butter but it will cook into the biscuits making them crisp and buttery.

Bake in a preheated 400 degree F. oven for 25 to 30 minutes until lightly browned.
Remove from pan and serve warm.

Yeah, this could very well be the answer to the sometimes plain and boring regular biscuits!

I'm glad you like them Barb! These are VERY easy to make and you can whip them up in no time at all. I've added garlic powder to them too for a little extra flavor. I think it was TigerLily who suggested adding bacon bits...that would probably be pretty good also. Maybe even cooked and crumbled sausage!

I think I will try this but what is self rising flour?

Self-rising flour is one that already has the baking powder & salt added to it.
