When you make baked potatoes is it better to put the foil shiny side outside or shiny side inside? What are the benefits of each please.
Thanks

In my experience, neither. It steams the potato and tends to make them mealy (sp). I just poke some holes in them, rub olive oil on them and place them directly on the oven rack, turning them once or twice to evenly crisp the skin. Which BTW, I REALLY like ( the skin)

Putting the shiny side outside is what it's designed for. Tell us how it works out.

We have all learned different things. LOL! I have worked in kitchens that use foil and others that don't. And have heard that the shiny side in helps conduct the heat toward the food instead of away. LOL! I really don't think it matters much. I like the skin on my potato the best so I always use foil, so as not to dry the potato out too much.
I really think it is a personal thing. some like to salt the potato before putting it in the foil. I don't.
