It's the old holiday favorite from the '50's, but with fresh beans and fresh mushrooms, and a topping of CHEDDAR CHEESE!

Turns a good side dish into a great one!

Did I remember to tell you I made this for Thanksgiving? It is really awesome! Thanks again for posting it.

I've made bean concoctions, but not actually followed a casserole recipe. I' ve always meant to and this looks right up my alley. Thanks for the post, Lee.

Do the beans pick up much taste from the chicken broth? It seems like such a waste to just discard the broth unless it really adds something.

I saw Alton do this once completely from scratch.

I think it does add something to the dish Fred. I drained the chicken broth into my makings for gravy. I didn't want to waste it. lol

Well, the whole dish has a certain "je ne sais quoi" combination of flavors that I suspect has to do with the little changes Paula makes, layers of flavor that all work together.

You don't have to toss the broth, Fred. Save it and use it to make rice, or boil potatoes for mashed, or in a sauce, soup or gravy the same week.

I always wondered how you spelled that, Lee. lol

Thanks for the suggestions, ladies. I'll try to plan chicken and gravy at the same time. I was thinking boiling the beans in the broth might break the broth down or something... render it useless.

Hey, this looks even better than the one I found online, Lee! I think maybe I'll give this one a try.

Thanks for sharing!
