Hi everyone. My name is Tony. I am here because due to unfortunate circumstance, I am now dad and mom to 3 kids. I have a decent grasp of cooking but now I need to do it every day, multiple times. Hopefully, I can get some help here. One question is, I need to buy a slow cooker and the differences in brands and reviews on Amazon have me confused. I will be cooking with it sometimes for only my 15 year old son and myself and sometimes for my 2 daughters and maybe their friends at times. What brands do you guys like? What size is good? See, I'm leaning on you already. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, Tony!

My slow cooker is a Rival. Had it for 30 years, and it is STILL going just as strong as ever.

Hi Tony. Welcome. Sorry about your circumstances.
I don't use my slow cooker enough to recommend one, but in case you didn't know, electric pressure cookers can also double as slow cookers. If you are thinking of adding to your cooking arsenal, you might consider going this route. You can cook some things in a pressure cooker for 30 minutes that will taste like they cooked for hours.

Ditto what Homecook said!

A slow cooker is a great tool for a busy family. When you buy one, buy a cookbook of slow cooker recipes, give it to the 15 year old to use and he will look like a superstar cook!

This is how I started my brother cooking - he was so pleased with his success with the crockpot, that he ventured next to stovetop and oven recipes and now he's an excellent all-around cook!
