Has anyone seen this commercial on TV?

It claims that people don't have to go outside to smoke any more. That there is no cigarette smoke to deal with any more.

It's supposed to be much safer than smoking real cigarettes. Now what if your teenager wants to try it? What do you do? Argue with him or her, or just say no?

I'd say it doesn't work.

Both my brother and my neighbor bought it to cut down on smoking, hoping to quit. Neither used the thing after the first week and are still smoking as much as ever.

My DH tried something similar, his was the kind that had different cartridges for different intensities. It didn't work for him either.

And it more than likely WON'T work for others, either!

I THOUGHT that this was just another scam! There's a sucker born every minute!!

Anyone who thinks that this might be the answer to quitting smoking, it ISN'T! The best way is cold turkey.

Even though I must admit that I had once quit smoking for 2 years and went back to it, I DID actually stop again 6 years later FOR GOOD! It's been well over 15 years since I stopped, and I never once was enticed to go back to it again.

I have 3 dear friends who smoke. It won't work for them either!

One of them smokes like a chimney because he chain smokes. Just before he's about to put the one out that he's smoking, he lights up another! And oh, that disgusting cigarette smoke, aaarrrggg - it's so gross and gets into EVERYTHING!!! Second-hand smoke!

When I leave either or both of their apts, my clothes are reeking with the stink from cigarettes!! I love them all dearly, but they just smoke too much for me. The reason why I didn't visit them yesterday.

The other friend, he's out of town and is in New York for Christmas week. He told me that he's only allowed to smoke in the bathroom at his sister's house in New York (Harlem). But I'm quite sure that when he gets back, he'll also be smoking just as much as ever.

Also, they all have health problems like me - yet they smoke atrociously and excessively. I wish that they'd see it as I do. I can only HOPE that one day, they'll have had enough and change the errors of their ways.

I'm not sure it will cure the addiction to nicotine, but I think it will help somewhat when in restaurants after a meal.

There are no signs yet in bars, restaurants or clubs saying that fake cigarettes can be "smoked" there.

I think that would only just fuel the fire for others who smoke to want to light up, and when they are told that they can't, they'll possibly create a disturbance. I think that they should just let sleeping dogs lie.

That would only get the ball rolling for second-hand smoke to stink up those places again!

I think it's ridiculous and something you probably don't want to inhale into your lungs.

How unfortunate that it doesn't work.... I was hoping that it would at least act as a sort of replacement in place of a cure. The reason as to why it looked legit was likely due to its intense advertising campaign... I would see stands in the mall and ads on the internet for a whole week at a time selling the product.

Oh well... That's why I've never smoked any cigarettes. You're likely to get hooked on them from the get go, and that's just going to burn a whole in your wallet.

At $8.00 a pack, yes!

That comes to over $2,000 a year!! That amount of money could go to a more useful thing, such as paying bills or buying something nice for the home.

Correct. Plus, there's also the more expensive brands, which will clearly double that price tag. I'm not even sure as to why people start this endless cycle to be honest... Sure there's stress involved, and at times peer pressure, but that's no excuse to hurt your body.

And then they sometimes say; "I'm dying for a cigarette, or:"I'll just die if I don't have a cigarette.

Well dag, even if they get one, it harms their bodies even more!! There is just no excuse for the frivelous claims of them wanting to smoke! I've been through all of that madness. People can stop if they want to, but some just won't.

well, i'm a smoker and I just don't want to quit. I know the things it does to my health but so does a lot of other things beyond my control. I only do it when no ones around as well, so as to not give second hand smoke. Live and let live as long as you harm no other as I see it.

I have heard many times that quitting smoking is harder than giving up heroin. I agree that if you are a smoker and you do it in private and do not subject non-smokers to it, then you have every right to do it. It is a psychological addiction as well as a physical. That is why it is right up there with the worst drugs for the difficulty of quitting. I am not a smoker, but I know many, many smokers. It hurts me tremendously to see them subject themselves to such toxins. It makes me sick to see it, but you can't do anything to instill the will to stop it even in someone you deeply love.

Thne gov't has since stepped up their campaign against smoking by running TV ads that contain more graohic vids or parts of the body, such as the heart beating and the chest opened for surgery.

The more recent one is where a woman who looks like death warmed over puts on a wig, puts her false teeth in her mouth and put a plastic tube in the hole in her throat!

Also, the woman lying in her bed so incapacitated that her son has to give her a sponge bath! Also, more graphic photos are due to come out on cigarette packs to try to get people to stop smoking.

This is all in an effort to try to get viewers to quit smoking

They are exceedingly horrific images. I have seen them. It may help. They will certainly give you pause. I wish everyone loved themselves enough to protect the only body they will ever have. Science may try, but will never fix everything.

You can lead a horse or a dog to water, but you can't make him drink it.

If those who claim that they'll quit smoking, but won't get off their rusty-dusties and try to do something about it, then they have no intention of quitting.

It is a very unpleasant experience and they are loathe to tackle it. It means a lot of discomfort, but it is sooooo worth it. My Daddy smoked 3 packs a day and one day he simply laid them down and never picked them up again.
