As we know that food is constantly taken in by all living things everyday, it is therefore necessary for us to know the different cooking methods. :p When we discuss about the various cooking methods, we should also take note of the effects of these cooking methods have on food. For example, nutrient loss when cooking:( , browning effects like maillard reaction, etc. So, what are the different types of cooking methods? How these cooking methods affect food in terms of appearance/chemical structure/nutrients?

I am most familar with meats, although it does also apply to vegeatbles to a lessor extent. Variations include: amount of marbling, cut of meat, type of meat etc. You can take a tough peice of meat and slow braise it and make it delightful. You can also take an exspensive cut of meat and waste your money by drying it out.

Here is what I know:

Pan Broil
Pan Fry
Broil
Stir Fry
Roast
Grill
Cooking in liquid
Braise
