How many of you have diabetes?
This is a serious disease, and it is not to be taken lightly. Sadly, many have died from it. It runs in my family. Lost one of my brothers to it and alcoholism almost 5 years ago!
I'm a diabetic (Type 2) and so is my oldest brother. Do not take this disorder lightly!!
A dear friend of mine was just diagnosed with it last week. I had to drive him to the emergency room because he was having difficulty breathing, especially when trying to sleep! He couldn't sleep for about a week!
Found out just today that his doc (cardiologist) told him after running some tests on him, that he had a silent heart attack that he didn't know anything about because he felt no chest pains at all! He's Type 1 diabetes, I believe, because his pancreas produces too much insulin and the glucose level in his blood was just over 300 last week!
If you have this disease, you must try to keep yourself in check constantly. Another friend of mine, his girlfriend also has it.
Please, take this advice to heart. Diabetes, in some instances, CAN go away with proper weight loss. Though small (skinny) people can get it also, it is mainly obese people who are often diagnosed with it.
It must be controlled in order for you to live a long happy healthy life. It can affect other organs in your body like the heart, liver, kidneys and your eyes. Stroke and heart attack are two of the dangerous affects of diabetes!
And if your doc tells you that you have it, then you absolutely positively MUST take measures to make the disease easy to live with. I never would have known that my friend has it until he went to the emergency room!

Diabetic is a serious illness. It will change life your life style forever. The best way to win diabetic is using natural methods. Changing life styles.
Many people who have diabetes find that walking is the best exercise. Walking is easy, inexpensive, and enjoyable. Walking tips:
* Try to walk at least three times a week.
* Start with 10-minute walks then build up to 30 or 40 minutes.
* Wear comfortable shoes and socks.
* Breathe deeply as you walk.
* If you feel short of breath or can't catch your breath, slow down.

Yes if it runs in your family, then you are most likely to get it later on in life. Especially if your mom & pop was diagnosed with it.
I tell all of my nieces & nephews, especially my 2 nephews who lost their dad, to try to stay healthy and don't do bad things, and that they may get it.

I'm on a blood thinner, mainly because my heartbeat was in Atral Fibrulation (irregular heartbeat) which had ended up with me being diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
Warfarin, a generic form of cumidin, is what I'm on, mainly to prevent blood clots from forming, which could travel to either the heart or the brain, leading to a heart attack or a stroke. Wouldn't this work for diabetes as well?

Diabetes can be a serious disease as it gives birth to more and more diseases if proper care and prevention are not taken.

The only KNOWN cure is to try to lose some weight in hopes that the disease might go away of its own accord.
It has been proven that many people who had it were obese, and that once they lost the weight, the onslaught went away.

The sugar molecule is large and jagged so that's why many people get bad circulation and lose extremities because when you get a build up of them they block circulation. Cumidin would thin the bood but doesn't break down the sugar. It's only a slight improvement.
I completely agree with you that diabetes is a very serious disease. I think many of the deaths could be aviodable if they would monitor themselves. When people don't watch their diet, exercise, or check their blood sugar it can be deadly.
Curious to know how often you friend with type 1 checks their blood? Type 1 is and autoimmune so it's a little different than type 2. When children get diagnoses with diabetes it's mostly type 1.
There are dogs that people have trained now to alert you if your blood sugar is irregular. It's really important at night when you are sleeping and can't tell if your blood sugar is dropping. They wake you up so you can check it and do whatever you need to do to regulate yourself.

My mom had it for 25 years. She was really very disciplined. She was on tablet medication for a number of years then began insulin. She died 10 years ago after the diabetes affected her kindeys.Th advice she gave us when we were growing up was to take care of our health because it is the most precious thing we have. Anyone out there with diabetes, this is no game. It’s not like a yoyo diet you can't just cheat then think you can get away with it. Eat and exercise sensibly diabetes is something that can be controlled. Don’t let it control you.

She was right!
I was telling a dear friend who I've known for over 25 years, to take his heart medicine. He hasn't been before, but now he says he does. I want him around for a long, long, long time!!

Hi,
Diabetes is a major health problem worldwide. It has a genetic and environmental predisposition. Alcoholics can develop recurrent acute pancreatitis leading to chronic pancreatitis and destruction on cells that secrete insulin hormone. They can end up having diabetes. Diet control, exercise and drugs can help a great deal. But it is up to you to make sure your sugar level is well under control

Incorrect.
Diabetes mainly comes from inheritence. Alcoholics have to greatly reduce or eliminate their alcohol intake.
If one or both of your parents, grandparents, aunts or uncles have or had it, then chances are fairly coomon that you could get it as well.

My husband has diabetes, and it is best controlled when he walks the dog at least once a day. We walk him about 1 1/2 miles in the am and the same in the evening. it is great for him and us too. now that hubby is away he has to go the the gym to get the exercise he needs to keep his sugar under control.
He is also takes pills to control it.
