Posting Guidelines
Post in the correct forum
When creating a new thread please make sure you are posting it in the correct forum. Posting in the wrong forum creates more work for the moderators to move the thread to the proper forum. Moving threads also leads to confusion when people look for the thread.
Stay on topic
Please try to stay on topic when responding to posts. Understandably, discussions will veer off in their own directions, but deliberate hijacking of threads will not be tolerated. Offenders will either be given a warning, or penalized with 1 infraction point which would expire in 2 months.
Search before starting threads
CookingForums.net has a lot of threads. To avoid repetitive thread topics, please use the search feature to see if your question has already been discussed. After your search, if you cannot find a thread on the subject, or the previous threads do not answer your question or are outdated, feel free to create a new thread on the subject.
Make contributive posts
When responding to threads please make sure your post is contributing to the discussion. Making unneccassary posts ("oic", "okay", etc.) is the main cause of threads getting sidetracked. If your post does not contribute to the discussion in some way it may be deleted. Offenders will either be given a warning, or penalized with 1 infraction point which would expire in 2 months.
Behaviour
Insults and personal attacks
While we are fairly lenient towards vulgarities, friendly bickering, and so forth, we do not tolerate blatant insults or personal attacks against others. Naturally, there will be disputes and debates in regards to strategy and such, but these discussions can still be dealt in a respectable manner. Offenders will either be given a warning, or penalized with 1 infraction point which would expire in 6 months.
Attacks on Staff
CookingForums.net is supervised by moderators. Moderators scan the community to ensure that these rules are followed among all members. These rules are in everyone's favor and when there is an issue with a rule, please bring it to the staff's attention via Private Message as opposed to on the public forum.
Allowing somebody to directly challenge a staff member's authority on the public boards undermines the integrity of the site.
Therefore, if a member has an issue with a moderator, send a Private Message to the Adminstrator, Tyler. Your complaints will be reviewed and action taken where needed.
Personal attacks toward the staff and criticism of how they perform their duties will not be tolerated. Offenders will either be given a warning, or penalized with 5 infraction points which would expire in 12 months.
Trolling
There is a zero tolerance policy towards trolling on CookingForums.net. A troll is a person who purposely seeks out others or posts to insult or harass, and/or degrades the forum in an anti-social manner. Repeat offenders will be warned or possibly given infraction points.
Spam
There is a zero tolerance policy towards spam on CookingForums.net. Spam includes, but is not limited to: referral links, pornographic or vulgar material, or any owned or associated website. If you wish to advertise on CookingForums.net, you may do so by contacting (http://www.CookingForums.net/sendmessage.php) us.
New members who spam will automatically be banned pemanently from the site; existing members who spam will either be given a warning, or penalized with 5 infraction points which would expire in 6 months.

Well, I think the moderators do a good job. At least you don't have to worry about other places like discuss cooking forums where you can't say anything.

You're so right about DiscussCooking.com!!!
You can't even say a thing there that they don't like!!!
They are truly bonified chronic morons!! They'll stop you in a heartbeat if you try to say something that they don't like!!! Or if you say that you have a powerful appliance more than once!!
Also, I once mentioned the R-word there - wasn't directed at anyone there or their relatives or friends at all. Next thing I know, the poor excuse for an admin, GB, sends me a pm threatening to ban me if I say the word again!! He got a very hostile and nasty additude, saying that an in-law of his was supposedly the R-word.
I told him to ban me if he wants to because I'm going to speak my piece and say exactly what is on my mind, and that no one there is going to stop me!! They DID eventually ban me (one of the other hostile poor excuse for an admins) because I stood up to them when they constantly accused me of making blanket statements!! They claimed that I was disrespecting them and being a troublemaker. They also don't like being told when they're wrong! But I did not let myself be punk'd down by them!
Yeah, and there are other forums out there that also restrict you from posting certain topics where they just flat out forbid you to mention things like politics such as President Barack Obama or President George Bush, the financial crisis, the gov't or other polititians and things related to politics such as the 09-11 terror attacks.
DiscussCooking.com & SpicePlace.com, and now CookingLight.com are about 3 of the worst ones around!! They'll ban you if you say something that they think of as you making blanket statements. They get a severely chronic attitude and act very aggressively and hostile toward you if you say the R-word or because you don't like certain people that you might come across on the street on a daily basis such as bums, beggars & drunks!! I expressed my dislike for bums, beggars and drunks & got screamed at by some of the hostile mods there, claiming that they got friends or family who are bums, beggars and drunks!!!
Every blasted time that you say something negative about people who you might meet on the street, THEY got relatives like that!
Dag, if they are that blasted sensitive about what you say and claiming to have relatives like that, then they shouldn't even be running that forum at all if they are going to take offense to everything that's said there!!!
SpicePlace.com banned me for no reason at all!!!!! The controversial mod there started controversy & trouble about me there because of the screen name that I used - Big Daddy's Kitchen (from Aaron McCargo Jr.'s pilot show) and had gotten most of the other members to go against me. Then they started attacking me personally. Went back there one day and found out that I was abruptly friggen banned for nothing!!! What a bunch of low-life puke retarded cowards they are!!! I ended up feeling very uncomfortable being there.
CookingLight.com also did the same thing, but it was merely because I posted replies in some of the old threads there!!! Don't sign up over there either. That is a lousy stinking forum!!!
Then there's another one - FoodNetworkFans.com, where if you say something that's not so good about Alton Brown, then a few of the mods there get so hostile, and are jumping all over you because they like him, and they don't want to hear anything that suggests a dislike toward Alton!! They'll start calling you names!! They are enforcing the rules, but they bend & twist them as well when it's convenient for them to do!!
And they'll start arguing with you. You should be able to express a dislike about a Food Network Star without being personally attacked and criticised for it!
I began a thread there about a little boy, Daylon Trotman (who is now 8 years old), who likes to get up and dance in the aisles at the Boston Celtics home games, and because I talked about him a lot and added more stuff to the posts, the thread got abruptly blasted closed!!
If I talk about kids there, especially boys, they get suspicious as though in their eyes and small minds, that I might be a damn pedophile, a monster or a child molester!!!!! What sick depraved demented small-minded people THEY are to even think or imply something like that!!!!!!!! I like kids, but for all the RIGHT reasons, nothing bad at all. And who doesn't?!! They make me feel like a kid again myself!! Am I supposed to HATE them?!! No, I don't and I won't!!!
And now, they've stopped me from even being able to edit my own posts!!!!!
I've started to feel very uncomfortable there as well. One of the members there, Ibcheft, has turned into an Internet Schoolyard Bully!! Posting spam and causing trouble against me! Making nasty little smirky remarks every time that I make a post!!
They're playing games, acting like they don't see it or don't know who stopped me from editing my posts.
Before that, some jerk-mod had stopped my posts from being posted pending the approval of a moderator!! Got that one fixed, now THIS crap!!
Then the bastards started EVEN MORE crap on me and personally attacked me because a while back, I had as my avator, a pic of Tiffany Eunick, the little girl who was accidentally killed by Lionel Tate. It seems that wasn't a problem back them - now all of a sudden, it's a big problem!!!
Telling me that I had no business posting a deceased child's pic in my avator and that it was a problem!!
Seems every time I went back there, I found more damaging stuff that suggest that they want to paint a bad picture of me, and making me a verbal assault magnet!!
They are nothing but a bunch of Internet Schoolyard Bullies who do nothing but personally attack me all the time!! I just didn't feel welcome there any more, so I left there for good on my own. I'm not going back there at all, and never went back!! Besides, I've gotten so sick & tired of their blasted games!!
Well, let them come here and start that crap with me now! I now have the powers that be to disipline & ban them, so I don't think that they'll want to tangle with me now!!

There has been a considerablely large number of spamming posts here that have been posted by new members in various threads, ones who have recently joined the forum. Such as merchandise being solicited here.
I'm putting a stop to it.
Therefore, anyone new here who is caught doing this, their spamming posts will be swiftly edited or deleted and an infraction of 1 point given. Further abuse of this type will lead to the new-member / abuser being given a swift ban.
That means this type of abuse will result in getting a 20-point infraction and a automatic swift and permanent ban.

Hi, BDH. I'm new here and was reading over the rules. I was wondering about 'contributive posts'. So, it's NOT okay to reply 'okay' or to thank someone if they answer a question for you in a thread? Had I not seen that, I would have absolutely been an infractor of that rule, I'm sure. :p Am I understanding the rule correctly?
Thanks in advance. :)
BTW, 'off topic' for this post but 'on topic' for the thread (;)), you had me cracking up over you post about DiscussCooking! I'm sorry they were so nasty to you. Glad you've washed your hands of them.
Blessings,

Never said that it wasn't ok to reply 'ok' or to thank someone.
Yeah, DC is NOT the forum that you'd want to be a member of. If you haven't signed up there yet, then DON'T. You'll certainly regret it! You're not missing anything there.

Anyway, thank you!

Also, CookingLight.com, Trinity.
Don't signup there either!! They falsely accused me of being a troller and spammer!!!
Because if you post replies in some of the old threads, you will be scorned at, treated very unfairly and they'll poke fun at you for comic relief!!! The jerk admin will also join in and side with their fun-poking!!!!!
They'll accuse you of digging up drama, and then they ban you for nothing!!!!!!

I'm a regular over at the Cooking Light message boards and I respectfully disagree with this assessment of what happened over there.
No one specifically accused you of being a spammer. Some told you that spammers have been picking old threads to spam from and that is why some were cautious regarding you and your posts. Not the same as accusing you as a spammer. The term "troll" was never used, except by you.
Also, it was in a bit of poor taste for you to dredge up an old thread in which someone was mourning the loss of their dog. I know your intent was to not start a new thread about wanting a dog and not use up more bandwidth, but in this case a new thread certainly would have been appropriate instead of dredging up painful memories of the original poster of the thread.
And regarding the weight limitation on checked baggage. Everyone understood your point regarding that it does seem silly that if your bag is a bit overweight, moving the weight to another bag still amounts to the same amount of weight going on the plane. Many of us tried to tell you that we understood your point but also were trying to point out that the weight limits are partly to help protect the baggage handlers from injury.
I think once you kind of launched into your tirades in each of those threads, you lost a lot of credibility and no one was taking you seriously at that point.
And regarding your comment over there about there not being rules as to which threads to post on, seems like common sense would tell you that, don't you agree?
Perhaps you were treated a bit unfairly over there, but you have to take some amount of blame also, right?
I hope you will allow this post to stay and also that you won't ban me, again, because we have a difference of opinion.

I won't ban you or delete the post. The honest truth is that I hate that forum with a pure passion something fierce!!! And no one is going to change my mind.
All that I'm going to say about that lousy stinking forum is that they are the worst SOB's around.
And the truth be told, I wasn't the only one who was treated unfairly there. Others were as well when THEY were new members there.
They truly deserve each other over there. Never in my experience of being a member at forums was it ever against the rules or did it ever merit being treated like crap for posting in some of the old threads!!! They acted like I robbed a bank or killed someone!!!!!
You admit that I was perhaps treated unfairly, but then, yet you got the nerve and the audacity to say that I should take some of the blame as well?!!
I'm not taking blame, nor will I ever be a scapegoat for their extreme hatefulness over there because they are like a pack of savage carnivorous hungry wolves looking for some fresh new meat to kill and eat!!!
Quiet as it's kept, I dislike every one of them over there except for the few who had my back there. I just HATE being accused of something that I didn't do!!! And no one - not even you, will take that away from me!!!!!

And if any of them decide to come here and start trouble with me, then I will come down on them so hard and fast that their heads will spin!!!! I don't think that they'd want to tangle with me because I swear, I will make their lives a living nightmare here!!!!!!!

A member who decides to post in some of the old threads is NOT classified as a blasted spammer!! It's never a problem anywhere else, so why, all of a sudden, is it a problem THERE? Especially since there is no ruling against that! I've smeared that lousy stinking forum because they smeared my name with their hypocritical and stereotype attitude, biased abusive talk and nasty smirky comments and pokinhg fun at me.
Like a mad mastiff pit bull. Snobbish and snotty-nosed and spoiled. I will NEVER forgive them for what they did to me over there!!!!
They were just looking for a lame-duck excuse to start crap. They claim that I caused drama there, when it was THEM who came after and so atrociously dramatized me with their biased opinions about me. Such low values. They waited for me to cross their imaginary line and then they so quickly became the Gastapo Brigade!! Get to know me before you judge me.
I took about as much of that crap as I could take from them. I even apoligized for posting in some of the old threads, but that wasn't enough to them. They ignored it. They're just obvious chronic carnivorous piece of garbage troublemakers looking for a bullying bogus excuse to bait innocent people! I've had enough of them!
Hopefully, they'll treat the next new member that signs up there a little better.
The forum itself was ok. It's just the members there who became so very hostile toward me and began personally attacking me with harsh words, hostile treatment, slanderous and scandelous behavior and vicious insults left & right.
Please do me a flavor;
Go over there, signup and become a member there.
Then start posting replies in some of the old threads and see if they don't start bullying and beating up on you and treating you so unfairly.
They are very biased and judgemental there! Since when is it a crime to post in some of the old threads? I just don't like them over there, and there is nothing that anyone can do to change my thoughts and views about them. I thought that becoming a member there would be a good thing, but no, they became so nasty ungrateful and they were looking a gift horse in the mouth!!
It's nice to know that they treated me so friendly and made me feel so welcome & comfortable there at first. Then, just like milk that turns sour, they became so sour-minded and ganged up on me.
And you 2 guys want ME to accept blame for any of that? Sorry, but.............., No, I will NOT!!

Well, I'll extend an invitation to anyone from the board to join up over at the Cooking Light board and find out for yourselves what a warm board it is and also find out what real adult conversations with agreements and disagreements are like.

Find out for themselves what a warm board it is?
What a crock!!
You're grabbing at straws and you're got your wires crossed, right?!!
Hogwash!! Pure hogwash!!!!! Haven't seen this much bullcrap since they canceled Rawhide!! What planet are you living on, Mars?
I speak what is exactly on my mind. They smeared my name over there, I smeared them here.
Anyone who wants to join that lousy stinking forum, that is THEIR right & privelige to do so.
I'm not angry with you guys. But let's face it, I just don't like most of the members at that forum. Bottom line; I don't have to like them if I choose not to.
And if that lousy stinking forum is so "warm, cozy, comfy & friendly", as you claim to put it, then why were myself and others there treated so horribly cold, cruel and then banned for nothing?!
I want no part of a forum that flat-out starts out accusing me of being a suspected spammer because I wasn't sure where to post my introduction and because I posted replies in some of the old threads and then treats me so miserably. Let's face it - they used me for a scapegoat or a fall guy!!
Treated me like crap and then threw me out to the wolves!! They are nothing but a horde of carnivorous pieces of garbage and Internet Schoolyard Bullies!!!!!
Now let's let this rest, please, Jamonster. I've said what I had to say.
You are entitled to your own opinion, but so am I entitled to mine.

And BTW, that post presents a conflict of interest because it means that you are enticing members here to go join over at that forum. which in turn, might cause them to abandon THIS board.
That practice is most often frowned upon by staff members at forums, and it could cause the perpetrators involved to get an infraction.
Admins & mods don't like to see stuff like that happen. :(

But I call it as I see it. Others might see it differently, but that forum is one of the ones that I don't like at all.

Hi.
You're STILL an infractor because you've posted those two false sigs in your post. Therefore, I'm going to give you a chance to redeem yourself.
You have a few hours here to remove them from your posts. And if you don't remove them, I'm going to have to disipline you.
