After watching cooking shows on TV and learning from some cooking related sites I understand the importance of apron and now I am trying to wear apron whenever I work in my kitchen. But in summer it is very difficult for me to wear it as my kitchen gets too hot in that season and I am not able to continue my work there for long with apron. What you people do with your aprons in summer, do you always wear aprons or you just leave it when it is too hot ?

Central air conditioning seems to do the trick in my house. Maybe you could get a more lightweight apron that wouldn't be so warm.

The AC does help! Sometimes I'll open up the freezer and stick my head in there for just a second to cool off.

We have ac too. But my kitchen still gets hot. I leave the apron off if need be. If I am doing something messy like making noodles, or pasta sauces then I will put one on to protect my clothes.

It does depend on what you are cooking and whether you are getting in a mess. We always wear our aprons when making cakes and things so as not to get our clothes covered

I don't bother about aprons although I bought them and stash them in the cupboard for some reason. I know I smell of whatever dish that I cook after the cooking. But hey, shower helps!

Is it just me that finds I don't get hotter in an apron then without one?

Maybe it's being used to wearing whites all day, if you think an apron is hot, I can't suggest whites to you. Whites in August even in the UK leaves you thinking things like 'WHY IS HEAT SO HOT!?'

I use an apron most of the time. On hot days I do the majority of my cooking early in the mornings so I can leave the windows and doors open for ventilation. You'll be surprised how much you can get done in the early mornings. Give it a try.

Just cook naked, and shower afterwards - works for me :) Seriously, I rarely bother with an apron - but then, this is Ireland, it doesn't get hot here at all - and in the winter the kitchen is the best place to be!

The problem with cooking naked or ropless, is that if boiling hot liquid or screaming hot grease or oil splatters on you, then you're in a world of hurt!!!!!

My grandfather was from Sligo, not far from you. My grandmother was from Nenagh, in County Tipperary. I've always wanted to visit.
