Ice that freezes on the side walls of your freezer often makes you annoying while cleaning, I also faced this problem but now i have found a great solution to get rid of these extra ice. After cleaning the freezer just coat the side walls of the freezer with oil using a tissue, oil will then provide space between ice and walls and hence take out easily while cleaning. I use this method and clean my freezer in few minutes without applying extra effort.

Or unplug the unit just long enough to let the ice on the walls loosen so that it is easy to remove. Then plug the unit back into the outlet BEFORE YOU WALK AWAY FROM THE FREEZER! Or else, the food may begin to thaw and spoil!!
Most of the colder air is at the bottom. Half of it is on top, which is lost when you open the lid. This is mainly where the ice forms - when the warmer air meets the colder air, causing the condensation which freezes on the walls into the white ice.
Similar to an air conditioner when you turn it on in the summer. The coils start to get cold and begin to turn a little bit white from the freon that's being pumped through them from the compressor.

Put your frozen and refrigerated foods into the cooler until you are finished cleaning
your appliance. Most freezers no longer need to defrost, but if yours is one that does, plan in advance for this event and purchase some ice for your cooler. Prepare a sink full of warm water. You can use either dish soap or baking soda to clean the refrigerator.

This is 2009. Most freezers are "no-frost!"

But still, manual defrost is availible for people who want a dirt-cheap no-frills simple basic freezer, which is what I have.

Stay on topic, please. This thread is about members cleaning their freezers, not about solicitation of merchandise through the board.
