Hi,

I'm currently suffering with a stinking cold (commense the swine flu jokes)! Anyway I was thinking it might be nice to get a few 'remedy recipes' ideas. I expect there'll be a lot of stews and casserole suggestions.

I thinking some with a bit of a kick would be pretty good to blast it out of me!

Thanks peeps! :)

I don't know how much cooking you really feel like doing, and I hope you get to feeling better soon!. But one of these soups would make you warm: Pozole Verde (http://twoalarmrecipes.blogspot.com/2009/04/pozole-verde.html) or Menudo (http://twoalarmrecipes.blogspot.com/2009/05/quick-menudo.html).

Or if you're all hot and feverish and just can't face pork for some reason (snicker), how about a salad: Tropical Mexican Salad (http://twoalarmrecipes.blogspot.com/2009/04/tropical-mexican-salad.html).

I have a stinking cold now too and would make some Hot and Sour Soup if I didn't feel so bad. That works every time. Really clears the sinuses. Wish I had a Chinese take out!

The good ol' homemade Chicken Noodle Soup is always a proven force against the cold.

Yep. That's what I do.
Of course, then I chase it with a little whiskey. Kills germs and the recipe is easy - just add ice :D

Exactly mcnerd, boil off a chicken, and buy some fresh linguine pasta and make yourself some good old fashioned homemade chicken noodle soup. Drink some Lemon Zinger tea it will help cut the crud in your nose and throat. Lots of water, powerade gatorade etc..

In edit you don't feel like picking a chicken right now. Buy a rotisserie chicken and pick it off. for your soup.

All great suggestions so thanks guys. Much better now but it has come and gone a couple of times this week so here's hoping it's gone!

The Hot and Sour soup sounds like it could be very helpful in the future!

I do know what gatorade is from my visits to the states but unfortunately we don't get it here in England.

Last night my son took me out for Mother's Day to my favorite Chinese restaurant. Had a huge bowl of Hot and Sour soup. One down, two to go.
