problem with tongs

Hello,
I am an industrial design student and I have to redesign a hand held object for my assignment. I have chosen to redesign the tong. I was wondering if there was anyone out there who had any issues with them and what they are. My market group are people who have arthritis and/or carpal tunnel. This would greatly help with my research.

What a good idea for your project. I have not had any trouble with tongs. However I would talk to occupational therapists, and see if they have noticed any problems with tongs and rehibilatating clients.
